"Adventure and exploration. The only way to live," she stated matter-of-factly. Grinning, Meisa took the last bit of watermelon and offered the plate to Jun for pickings before she set it down on the table. There wasn't any real hurry, despite the frenzied vibe given off by the assistants. She was about to exclaim 'Really?!' when Jun clarified exactly what the waterfall was. "Sounds like fun," she commented instead, "We never got that. Water's an expensive thing to waste in the southwest."

Turning away to hide the soft snort that escaped her, she took a deep breath to school her face into a more solemn look. "Solemn, yes. Most definitely." She remembered the balloon Jun had popped earlier and her mouth twitched. "Is that what you're supposed to wear when a balloon dies?"

The photographer's eyes lit up when she said that. "I've just had a brilliant idea! Miss Kuroki that was inspiring!" He turned away. "Arick! Renee! Balloons! Pop! YES!" As the two assistants began the process of popping balloons, he turned back to Meisa and Jun. " ( ... )

"Lousianna was full of water. Too much water, most of the time," Jun shrugged, taking one last piece of pineapple. "New Orleans got the water, California got the glamour. I know which one I'd have picked."

He was about to respond to the balloon funeral when their photographer went batshit. W.T.F indeed. "Well now they just look like badly abused used condoms," he muttered to Meisa. "Should we change?" he asked a little more loudly.

The photographer was shouting at the guys moving the lights and fans. "No wind, no wind, turn it off and make the lights brighter! Filter? Yes, let's add a color filter to one! Some with alabaster, some with gold! I want to see which is better for the pants! SHIRTS OFF!" he said, finally looking at Jun. He looked rapturous. "Better for the pants!"

Jun looked back at Meisa. "Crazy pants," he said before standing up to tug his wifebeater off again.

Meisa snickered into Jun's shoulder. "Colorful badly abused used condoms," she corrected him, "We obviously need to give them the proper send off." It was starting to look like a psychopath had gone through killing balloons. "I wish I'd kept my mouth shut," she mumbled ( ... )

"Greeeeaaaat," Jun drawled, getting down on the floor to roll around in a fit of mourning. He rolled over and settled, nestling his cheek against a dead red balloon as he started at Meisa. "At least I'm getting my dollar later," he said gravely.

Though this WAS a fun shoot. It was crazy and strange but fun.

"Roll! Away from each other! Be apart in your grief! Turn your back on that joy!"

Jun rolled again, feeling Meisa warm at his back. "Can we go back to feeling joy?" he asked the photographer. "For winter?" He rolled and clenched some dead balloons in his fists. "Or at least sexy-grr?"

"You got it," Meisa said wryly, trying to control the corners of her lips from turning up. She rolled and twisted feeling bits of balloon stick to her stomach. A bright bit of green balloon was stuck on her shoulder, she noticed as she shifted her face to the side to look both demure and sad ( ... )

The shoot had started normally enough. Somehow their photographer had gone insane. At least he had somebody he liked to work with in it with him. He moved his arm to keep Meisa's smile hidden or at least disguised. He twisted his own laugh to a face of agony.

"Too much! Let us change!" the photographer motioned aside. "Renee! Cici! I need Autumn."

Jun stared at him and tried to stifle Meisa. "Right."

"Change, change! More fun and then more fierce, strong faces! Get the giggles out."

Jun blinked.

"OUT!"

Jun let go of Meisa and stood, offering her a hand. "I'm scared."

Maybe their photographer had discovered a deep seeded balloon fetish in the midst of the Summer shoot. That thought sent Meisa into a bout of giggles into Jun's side even as the photographer told them to get the giggles out.

"He's scary," she agreed with a grin, taking Jun's offered hand and peeling of bits of balloon that had stuck to her torso and arms, "but too much fun." Looking up she saw that Jun had a bright purple bit stuck onto the side of his forehead. It sent her into a fresh set of laughter. "Jun! Jun! You've got-" she gasped and tried to catch her breath in between laughing. "Here-" she pointed to her forehead instead, hoping that he'd understand.

The makeup artists and hairstylists swarmed around them then, quickly brushing off the rest of the balloon bits and retouching their make up and hair before the pair of them could go and get changed as the set was cleaned and changed.

"Fierce and fun are going to blend at some point," Meisa commented when they were together again. "And I see you get a shirt for the fall."

For one awful second Jun thought that something on his head had opened up into an oozing wound. Or had split into a bloodless gash. But Meisa was laughing and he pulled a way not skin but the remains of a purple balloon. He laughed, hoping he didn't sound too strained. "Fashion statement," he deadpanned as the assistants surrounded him.

He took a few moments to breathe before joining Meisa at the racks. "We both have shirts for fall. Long sleeved shirts." He also had new pants and a different belt. "I bet it clings," he speculated, pulling it off the hanger. "The pants are baggy enough to balance it."

Peeking over the partition he looked at Meisa. "Even if we don't get back to fun on film, it's not a bad shoot. I l--is that a giant mushroom?"

Though busy trying to calm her laughter so that the veritable force of stylists could do their jobs, Meisa did notice the slight look of panic that quickly crossed Jun's face. It was gone in a second and she thought that she may have imagined it, especially since he was joking a second later. "Very much straight from the catwalk," she told him wryly.

"You get a clingy shirt, I get..." she pulled out a poncho-like sweater, "some sort of trashbag. And tight jeans. Of course."

She was trying to figure out where her head went in the poncho when Jun pointed out some sort of giant mushroom-like thing. "I think? Wait, there's another one being brought in. What are we supposed to be? Tiny people?"

Jun's shirt wasn't tight, but it clung to him like a second skin. It was soft, which was nice, but it was also really, really warm. A quick check of the label revealed that it was the same brand as the jeans. "Trashbag. Very shabby chic," he said, tightening his belt as far as it would go.

"Shoes," somebody said, thrusting a pair of leather boots into his arms. Jun looked at the mushrooms and back at the boots. The tops of the boots were peeled down and segmented, almost like petals.

"I think we're supposed to be something," he said, sitting down to put them on. "Tiny. Magical. Insane." He glanced back at the mushrooms and the huge, cutout cloud being maneuvered into place. "What have you got for accessories?"

"Rain!" shrieked their photographer.

"It can't possibly top rolling around in dead balloons while mourning them," Meisa said with a grin. "I've got fancy sandals..." A braided leather belt was thrust into her hands after Jun got his boots. "And apparently this belt." Rain?! she mouthed incredulously.

A hair stylist came up to her and motioned to a seat, "Miss Meisa! We've decided to put some romantic braids in your hair, please come." Meisa shrugged at Jun and made her way over and let them do whatever they wanted to do. Bits of leather and some feathers were braided into her hair, which would have made her look like some sort of flower child, were it not for contrasting outfit.

"I'm guessing some sort of woodland sprite, or something," she said once they let her go. The assistants were still messing with the sprinkler system to get the perfect 'rain'. "In the rain. Oookay..."

Jun heard the stylist talking about Meisa's hair and smiled. She was going to look lovely and he had a feeling that there would be some striking shots to come out of it. Jun submitted to his own stylist who was pushing and pulling at his hair, streaking in temporary color and teasing out sections. "I'm getting some purple," he called to her. It wasn't going to show up very well, he thought, without bleaching it out first but it would make a nice sheen ( ... )

"Very nice," she commented when she saw the sheen of purple in Jun's hair. "Somehow I think purple suits you."

Meisa had no idea what they were supposed to be anymore. If the photographer knew, he wasn't sharing. Hearing her name, she went to stand under the gigantic toadstool mushroom. Well. More like lean against the stalk. She was short, but not that short. At least that's what they wanted. "How are you doing up there?" she called up to Jun. It was getting pretty damp under the mushroom. The sandals had no traction and she could feel herself sliding down the stalk.

"Less mist! Less mist!" the photographer shrieked. "We want ethereal, people! Not drowned puppy! C'mon! Work with me here." He turned to the mushroom Jun and Meisa were at. "Mister Jun! Miss Meisa! I want serious! But not intense. More innocent, yes?"

Adjusting her position, Meisa could only nod and try to give the photographer what he wanted. And wonder what Jun was doing on top of the mushroom.

He was drowning. And slipping. He draped himself over the top of the mushroom as much as he could, trying to keep centered so he didn't fall off the edge. It was slick up there! He took a short breath and tried for an innocent serious. "Think of bambi," he muttered to himself, trying to make doe eyes at the camera.

Thankfully the water wasn't--oh, crap. And a fog machine? Jun thought of every zombie movie he'd ever seen and the fog and had to bury a groan in his arm. Zombie fay. Great. The ridiculousness of it struck him and he scooted over, hanging off the edge of his perch so that he could peek in at Meisa. "I think I owe you the dollar based on just how strange this is," he told.

"More of this!" the photographer shouted at him. "Cici? Wind! A gentle breeze in the rising mist!"

Jun slapped his damp hair back out of his face. His shirt was clinging to him in a way that was now uncomfortable. "Tell me again about the Korean barbecue?"

Meisa was trying to be pretty and ethereal. Really she was. It was just hard to feel woodland fairy-like when there was so much water that the best she could feel like was a fish. Shifting only caused her to slip further, which was uncomfortable and felt awkward. "Push through the pain," she mumbled, wishing that she could cast an spell that would make her impervious to water without anyone noticing ( ... )

Jun nearly fell off the top of the mushroom trying to make sure that Meisa hadn't hurt herself slipping. He gave up when the wind hit and slithered down, dropping as gracefully as possible beside her and hedging them both back under the mushroom. "Koreatown is great," he said. "We can go to Miss Korea. I've got time before I have to get to New York downtown ( ... )
