It was way too early to be getting up during the summer, Meisa grumbled as she climbed out of the taxi. Her vacation back home was way too short and school didn't start for another month, but she needed to start making money before the school year started. Thoughts about school reminded her that she needed to visit some of the art museums soon to start thinking of a senior thesis topic...

She shook her head, clearing all thoughts of school, and noticed someone ahead of her. Was that-? It had to be, no one else walked like Jun at an early morning shoot. Today will be fun.

Treading as quietly as she could, she came up alongside Jun where she noticed that he was clutching a can of coffee like a lifeline. He would probably be super annoyed, she knew that he wasn't a morning person, but it had been awhile and when he looked like that...

"Good morning!" she sang brightly, "Think we'll actually get a fun, happy spread this time? Or more broody, angsty ones?"

Somebody was bright and chirping at him. Jun nearly crushed the coffee can in his hand before he realized who it was. "Meisa," he said, easing up. He also surreptitiously checked his fingers, making sure everything was where it should be. He'd not realized he was so low on food and he'd only had a bit of spleen and some leftover tissues for breakfast.

But at least it was Meisa and he could not only tolerate her, he could enjoy her company. He gave her a small smile. "We can hope for a beach but unless it's 'fierce', I don't think we'll get it." He held the door of the studio open for her. "It's denim today, right?" He shifted his coffee to the crook of his arm and found his wallet, pulling out a dollar. He held it up to her. "I call 'angry and aloof'."

"Jun," Meisa replied in the same tone, though it was slightly teasing. "How are you? Haven't seen you in a while, though that's probably my fault for wanting to get out of New York after the semester ended." He looked okay, but she had seen him look better.

She smiled in thanks as he held the door open. "Is it? Darn, and I was hoping it was the swimsuit ad today."

Tapping her chin, her eyes locked on the dollar bill Jun held up. "If it's denim, I call 'sexy and casual'. 'Casual sexy'?" She dug around in her purse and pulled out a crumpled dollar bill and some coins. "Raise you..." she counted the coins, "Eighteen cents that I'll be in a bra and jeans for the shoot."

Jun gave her a bland look for her continued cheer but let it go for a genuine smile as she raised him eighteen cents. "You're on," he said, stepping into the building. It was cooler than outside but only by so much. "It's summer, they're going to put you in a long sleeved shirt that clings." Some photographers were sadists that way. "It might be a fall ad." Though Meisa did do a great 'casual, sexy' look ( ... )

"If I get stuck in clingy long sleeves, you'll probably end up in a leather jacket." Meisa made a face at the mention of cold weather wear. Talking about it and the fact that the building's air conditioner wasn't doing a very good job made her want to cast a strong cooling charm. She cast a slight one to follow her and Jun anyway. "Fall ads already? Jeez, where did the summer go ( ... )

Greece. Milan. Home? "California, right?" He sighed. "It still sounds better than the city has been for the last few weeks." Especially Milan. "I'm jealous. I stayed here with shampoo--it's not bad, by the way. Organic and all natural."

He felt a little cooler, like a cool breeze was following him and Meisa around. He relaxed a little bit and chugged the last of his coffee. "The shoots have been nice and damp, but not at all inspiring. Not like Greece or Milan. Did you find anything for the thesis."

He pushed the door into the studio open and checked it out quickly. The lights were set up and there were fans scattered around. A blank white background. "Black and white fierce faces?" he asked, nodding at it.

And then he noticed the balloons.

Meisa nodded. "California, yup. Got some funky tan lines from my wetsuit." Not that they were really all that noticeable, especially if they were going to be modeling denim and jeans. Hopefully they would be able to photoshop or airbrush or whatever they did them out if they bothered anyone. Nudging Jun, she asked with a sly smile, "Think you can send some samples my way? I'm looking for something new to try."

"I have some ideas about Classi-" She followed Jun's gaze, nodding to agree then stopping abruptly when her gaze landed on the balloons. Balloons. Of all various colors. Bright, lively colors on top of that. "What the- have we ever had such props before?" A small snigger couldn't be suppressed. "Maybe I was right when I said 'fun and happy' this morning. It'd be a first. Balloons don't exactly scream sexy or aloof."

Though... she skipped over to where the balloons were, plucking one from the rest and trying out a sexy pose with it. "Do they?"

"I can get you samples," he agreed. But absently. He was still stuck on the multitude of balloons. "I can't believe we're going to have a fun shoot." He didn't mind the strong featured ad work he did, all the dark and brooding. But Jun wasn't just surly mornings and cut-a-bitch stares. He had a smile and he liked to use it. He liked laughing. Maybe somebody had finally seen that about him--and about Mesia, who had a gorgeous smile when she was allowed to let it out.

But he doubted it. "It's a trick," he said dryly. "We're going to have to do something dumb and angsty with them." Or look sexy. "Or that. You do a good sexy," he complimented as he joined her. He took out a bright yellow balloon and held it up in front of himself. It took a moment to school his face into a mask of sorrow. "Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him, Meisa," he quoted. He also allowed his natural accent to take center stage, deep Lousianna instead of his usual New York rush.

He squeezed until the balloon popped loudly.

Meisa laughed, "You're one to talk Matsumoto. I've seen what you can do." Pausing to listen to him quote from Hamlet, she gave him a sweet smile. "I prefer your natural accent to your New York one, it's so soothing," she stated as he began to squeeze the balloon. The loud pop was expected but when the balloon burst she flinched. Trying to school her own face into a mask of sorrow, she solemnly eulogized, "Poor yellow balloon, so like the sun, to meet your untimely demise this early in life without even having been photographed. Rest in pieces ( ... )

Jun did a fair sexy. NOW. He had to work for it but it was nothing like his teenage years. Meisa's seemed effortless. It was one reason why he liked working with her--he could watch her work and learn. He did laugh when she eulogized the balloon and a little more at her pretentious art lesson ( ... )

Meisa chuckled as she followed Jun and the assistant towards the racks of clothes, veering off to her own rack and flashing a 'V for victory' sign at Jun when she spotted the jeans and bra outfit. She kept an ear listening to the assistant informing them about what they were supposedly going to do, her eyes combing through her outfits. "Three summer, two fall, one winter." One outfit caught her eye. "What? How is this a summer outfit?!" she exclaimed, holding out a hanger in which only a denim jacket and form fitting lycra shorts were hanging from ( ... )

It was always a wonderful day when he wasn't allowed to wear his own underwear but instead had to wear a privacy sock. Jun repressed a shudder as he changed behind the curtain provided and put on the jeans for the first shot. So baggy that a very good portion of his butt was visible.

He had to hitch the pants up to make his way--barefoot--to the hair/makeup counters. "Don't cover the mole; I like it," he said as one of the techs began to dust his chest. He understood that sometimes they wanted a blank canvas but he also liked seeing himself in the pictures, not just an image ( ... )

"Not even a bra," she bemoaned, shifting to sit properly when the hair stylist started messing with her hair. Meisa closed her eyes and let her head be positioned by the stylist. By the looks of the styling tools being used, it looked like they were going for loose curls slightly teased to give a 'just rolled out of bed' look. She cracked a smile, "Definitely classy, here's hoping I don't end up looking like a tramp ( ... )

"Your natural dewy glow isn't natural enough," Jun muttered, trying to hold still for the lip liner being applied. "Let the chemicals and clays fix it." Stage makeup was always so heavy and had never failed to make his teenage acne worse. "I like that mole, too," he said as he noticed the concealer coming at his face, aiming for his mouth ( ... )

"I look like a sparkly vampire Jun," she griped when she caught a glimpse in the mirror as her head was again repositioned by the hair stylist and her hair given a final spray to hold, "That's not natural even for vampires ( ... )

Jun would admit to having read Harry Potter. He'd never, every admit to having read Twilight, too. "Vampires don't sparkle, ever," he muttered. Unless they were Cullens. He watched with professional interest as Meisa's cheekbones and...other parts...were defined. Jun didn't care for the makeup but the effect was intriguing and he liked knowing about the different aspects of his job. If he ever had to do his own in a pinch, he'd be able to ( ... )
