Every now and then, Ohno found himself scheduled to guard the Cloisters instead of his normal rounds in the museum proper. Not like he minded, really - he had company most of the time in the form of spirits and when the mood hit him, Nino, but it was quite a bit farther from Mrs. Peabody's than the Met was. On days like this, it was easier to make his way up town earlier in the day and relax in the park. He could sleep under the trees, eat at food stalls or small places nearby and usually get a good amount of sketching done. One could only draw the trees in Central for so long before they got a bit old. Fort Tryon had more interesting things to put to paper, and Ohno liked taking advantage of it.
Stepping off of the bus on Broadway, bag with his sketchbook, pencils, and work uniform slung over his shoulder, Ohno made his way leisurely to the Alpine Garden. The view of the Cloisters from there was fantastic, and it stayed quiet enough Ohno probably wouldn't be bothered if he did fall asleep.
Choosing a fairly shaded spot beneath a large elm, Ohno spread out a blanket and plopped down upon it, his materials spread out before him. The heat was close to oppressive, but here in the shade it was definitely more bearable. He flopped out onto his stomach, chin on his arm as he began to sketch one of the rocky outcroppings surrounding the area.
