A layer of greens, broccoli, peppers, cauliflower, beans...whatever. Everything stays fresh as long as it's just veg. Then we just have to add dressing or toppings when it's time to eat.
The chopped fruit works well too.
If you rinse everything in vinegar water it helps it from spoiling AND cheaply removes chemicals. So I generally add all the greens to the containers while soaking one thing, scoop it out and soak the next thing while I'm chopping.
We do berries for breakfasts. Everything seems to keep well from Sunday night-Friday which is what we need. If we skip a salad I generally serve it with dinner on Friday or Saturday.

They wash well and last forever. Generally I only throw them out if one sits around with stuff in it for two long.
Check goodwill for food processors. TOTALLY WORTH IT.
My first one was $5 and I used it until it died and then I got this one for Christmas:

It is my most used kitchen item.

We have a ton of those types of containers (the hubs takes his lunch to work every day), so I think I could use stuff I already have. You've got my mind buzzing with ideas now! :) Thx!
