Starting out right

I'm pretty excited about this year. Something inside makes me believe it's going to be a great year. Hears hoping I can keep this optimism going for 12 months, right? :)

I'm going to be finishing my course for med trans very soon, so we'll have a second income for the first time in three years.

We've already decided to put a few hundred dollars aside for a mini-road trip when we get our tax return and his bonus. We haven't gone on a road trip in so long, and it always does us so much good to get out there and enjoy nature. I can't wait.

We're starting fresh with a clean house from our Christmas prep, so I'm going to try to stay on top of it on a regular basis instead of waiting 'til we have a big event. I'm setting up reminders on my calendar and hoping that will be a nice poke instead of a screaming nag. :)

I'm also going to try to start volunteering somewhere where I can interact with kids - I was thinking Girl Scouts or the YMCA. Do any of you do stuff like that? How'd you get involved?

I'm going to continue to volunteer at the Humane Society. It does my heart good every time I go and isn't that bad on my back like standing with the kitty cages was. I may still occasionally visit the kitties, too, but I love that I have an alternative where I can still help out.

I get to see my new niece later this month! WooHoo! I haven't held a baby in so long. I'm so looking forward to my trip. I'm staying in Austin for the week of Jan 16th to help my sis with babysitting. I'm so excited to be helping her in this way. So cool. :)

I love my counselor and am confident my sessions with her are just going to make my year better.

I have air in my lungs, an awesome husband, a loving family, excellent friends, two adorable animals to take care of, a house that is a home and opportunities to live a better life. Yay for a New Year! :) Happy New Year, Everybody! :)
