Happy New Year, Everyone!

So, to sum up 2009, here are:

A Few Accomplishments

  • Paid the car off
  • Got migraines/triglycerides/health/medicine under control
  • Tom kept his job and is becoming more and more valuable to the company and his department (they had some layoffs, so that's always a worry, but he's done great)
  • Made HUGE progress on the medical transcription course (LAST COURSE - WooHoo!)
  • Car made it another year! (i.e., didn't have to buy a new one or sell our bodies to get it fixed)
  • Participated in NaNoWriMo for the first time - SO much fun! (I'm hoping to finish it in the next few months - I'll keep ya' posted!)
  • Started "Friday 5" (blessings, positives, challenges, fun stuff to round out the week)
  • Painted the heck out of the house - kitchen cabinets, bathroom, Tom's office
  • Insisted on "Finding the Positive!" as often as possible :)

A Few Quotes (from other people)

Tom: "I would not trade our love for all the comfortable situations and forseen/handled uncomfortable situations in the world."

"People will accept your ideas much more readily if you tell them Benjamin Franklin said it first."
    - David H. Comins

"A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills and uses these skills to accomplish his goals."
    - Larry Bird

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do."
    - Eleanor Roosevelt

"Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out."
    - Art Linkletter

"The game of life is not so much in holding a good hand as playing a poor hand well."
    - H.T. Leslie

"A woman knows she's wearing the right dress, when her man wants to take it off."
    - Robert Paul

And, a few from my very favorite author, Douglas Adams:

"He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it."

"Ah, this is obviously some strange usage of the word 'safe' that I wasn't previously aware of."

"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so."

"Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so."

"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."

"Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space."

    A Few Quotes From Me

    13) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?
I'd be embarrassed by the horribly stained carpet and cobwebs and dog hair everywhere, but I'd welcome you, blind-folded, into my home with open arms. :)

    25) In one word, how would you describe yourself?
    Hopeful!

Utopia, for me, would be God allowing me to use "Outline View" in my head.

...and forever be battling the daddy tomato and not let him squish me.

Yeah, my internal cheerleader is a perfectionist. ...I guess she's more like a demanding cheerleading coach than a cheerleader.

Five things you can't live without
God, love, something to learn, something to teach, hope.

Believe absolutely that you'll get another chance, that love is out there, that you CAN do it, that you ARE worth the best and that you are loved.

Life goes on, so you might as well live it.

    ******
"Attention to health is life's greatest hindrance." - Plato

Me: "Hallelujah! Where's the ice cream!?!"
    ******

    1. Be kind to others
    2. Be open-minded

    What box?? :)
