9 days in april and may (1988)

Apr 30, 2013 19:50

red evening light slices the trees on the rise
a knife through time to where we were then
larger somehow in our beliefs
hands held against the future
we walked along cracked asphalt chanting
outside schools and hospitals
in stadiums and intersections
signs and t-shirts covered anger,  softened grief
the tress are almost dark now
motionless at the edges of the yard
drifting into the woods
i kissed you then
full on the lips, lingering
you burned your name on my tongue
slouching, we laughed at one another
and the rain
knowing it meant we were both alive

aids, political action, poetry, writing, act up
