GENERAL
[Name:] Adrian Andrews
[Age:] 30 … going on 31
[Gender:] Female
[Marital Status:] Single
[Sexuality:] She’d never state it in such bald terms, but she’s always been more inclined towards women, in a platonic and now a romantic sense. The possibility of being attracted to a male hasn’t been ruled out, however. It’s just yet to happen.
[Occupation:] Self-employed event planner
CONNECTIONS
[Family:]
Adrian lives alone, in her own house, but she doesn’t mind being by herself. The closest she comes to family right now is Shoe, the cat of her former sworn foe Matt Engarde. The cat’s getting on in years, but Adrian thrives in his company and unconditional acceptance.
[Friends:]
Franziska von Karma
It’s always odd for Adrian to consider the friendship she’s developed with Franziska given the nature of their meeting, having been initially used and manipulated by her, but she doesn’t think about that so much anymore. Since that time she’s drawn much from Franziska as her first source of strength following the events that triggered the change in her life. She admires a whole slew of things about Franziska, especially her spirit and strength of character, and despite being years older has come to depend on her a great deal for a sense of support and acceptance, and of being cared for-especially after Franziska saved her from the final onslaught of Engarde.
Over time Adrian’s come to feel very strongly towards her in a lot of ways, so much so that she hasn’t always known that she understands it entirely: suffice to say she thinks the world of Franziska, and would pass up almost anything for her.
Phoenix Wright
Adrian remains deeply appreciative of Phoenix for saving her in both her dealings with the court system. She remembers him particularly strongly as a dogged fighter for justice, which is why his disembarment troubled her greatly, even after she learned the details (or enough at least to know that it wasn’t his fault). She’s not one to force her opinion on him, though, and seeing him relatively at ease with his post-lawyer life over the past few years offers some comfort. These days she doesn’t always interact with him as much as she should, because the changes in his personality still make her feel apprehensive and uncertain of how to approach him; but she calls him a friend because of the past, and if nothing else is relieved that he’s taken the change well (being not unfamiliar with major life-changes herself).
Diego Armando
Even though Adrian can get a bit off-base when reading people, and so isn’t always sure what to make of Diego, there are a lot of things that draw her to him. He seems to her to be a wise and worldly and very intelligent fellow (not to mention charming), and she’s experienced the force of his honesty in the past-his directness can be unsettling, but really she might not ever open up otherwise. She’s never forgotten either that he, like her, has seen the inside of a prison cell. He’s one of the strong figures she looks up to, and without really realising it she’s come to trust and even to rely on his counsel.
Angel Starr
Poor Adrian. Most of her closer friends, it seems, have ways of making her uncomfortable. Angel is no exception, having a knack for putting her on the spot, making her nervous (whether or not she means to) and wringing truths out of her (true to the title of Cough-Up Queen, Adrian supposes). Regardless, she appreciates the effort that Angel makes with helping her, and has been quite touched by the thought that the older woman really does seem to care about her. And honestly, she wishes often that she could have that same level of confidence.
Pearl Fey-Armando and Trucy Wright
She’s seen these two grow up over the years and though she doesn’t spend as much time with them anymore, as they’ve become teenagers with their own friends and interests, she still thinks fondly of them and feels a sense of aunty-ish-ness towards them.
Miles Edgeworth
As with Franziska, her relationship with Miles began on shaky ground; and just as with Phoenix, she’s ultimately grateful to him for being instrumental to the change in her life, even if they did begin on much shakier ground. She hasn’t seen him a great deal over the years, though it’s much a relief for her to know that he hasn’t changed as immensely as Phoenix has.
She can’t ignore the fact that he’s a large figure in the life of her closest friend, and has taken to heart his request to take care of Franziska (she’s doing the best job she knows how to do, when it comes to friends); and although they’re also not particularly close, she likes to think that they’re on friendly terms.
It isn’t so much that she’s exactly forgiven what took place when they first met, or forgotten it-it’s more that it’s been nearing a decade since then, and well, life goes on.
Desiree DeLite
Adrian’s not especially chummy with Desiree, but still enjoys her company and appreciates having a friendship that’s pleasantly comfortable and doesn’t necessarily involve exhaustive amounts of self-disclosure.
[Enemies:]
Fortunately for Adrian, the people she is most vehemently inclined to consider enemies are no longer around to torment her. (Most recently Matt Engarde’s passing from earth to Hell where he belongs leaves her with some mixed feelings, but first and foremost a kind of liberating relief to know that he is finally gone.)
Other than that, she tries these days to keep this category empty, since her past has left her far more familiar with the concept of having enemies than she’d ever have liked to be.
[Other:]
Klavier Gavin and Daryan Crescend
Adrian managed their band back in the early days, before they became as popular as they are now, and is pretty pleased to know things are going well for the Gavinners these days. Although she doesn’t feel quite so antagonistic towards Daryan now that he and Franziska are no longer dating, she does wonder about the story behind the break-up and whether her previous feelings about the man were ever justified.
CHARACTER
[General personality:]
For most of her past Adrian’s tended to be characterised by one especially defining feature-being thoroughly emotionally dependent on others. The events surrounding Celeste’s death and Franziska’s entrance into her life gave her a considerable push towards becoming stable as her own person. Even so, although she’s not so much attaching to a single person in the same manner, she has a tendency still to look up to people stronger than herself, and to take her cue from them.
When it comes to her work she’s professional, efficient and very thorough. She’s actually very capable of dealing with people in a business capacity-it’s when the conversation turns to personal matters that she can trip up, particularly when she’s caught off-guard and off-script, which tends to happen in social rather than business interactions. She’s had a good few years to work on it so she’s not quite as wobbly as she once was, but these things don’t disappear overnight. She’s still not especially good at keeping in touch with her feelings, or at expressing them.
On the whole though she’s fairly cheerful around others and does her best to avoid any kind of conflict. She takes her failures quite personally, and is determined to do anything she can to make them right. Unfortunately, this happens more than she’d like since her newfound energy makes her clumsier than she used to be.
In general she likes being organised, neat and tidy, having things under control and going the way she’s planned (as planners generally do), and knowing what to expect and thus how to respond. She prefers to keep things uncomplicated, except when it comes to designing setups for work.
She doesn’t like when it starts to go wrong. She’s good at running the show when it’s going her way, and can hold it together some, but when things start to slip out of her control that’s when she starts to spaz, and it snowballs quickly. She doesn’t exactly dislike being compelled to think philosophically about things, but does dislike the effect it can have on her mood when too much of it dredges up old demons.
Adrian likes to read now and then; not too often though since good books can suck her in and keep her up late, and occasionally leave her feeling a little gloomy-she has a love-hate relationship with poetry and deep stories for this reason. She wasn’t entirely joking when she said she was good with her hands: she messes around with various mediums of handcraft -nothing she’s too good with (at least not yet), but it’s something to show. She’s also picked up some bits and pieces from various jobs she’s been on, finding herself fond of the occasional theatre trip or concert and with a general appreciation of the fine arts. She’s not a huge fan of the party scene and doesn’t drink often-that may be why she’s still such a lightweight.
[Appearance:]
Adrian’s not particularly tall, something she’s quite self-conscious about at times. She wears heels as much as she can stand it, to try and remedy this. She’s kept her hair long and blonde, and wears it down as much as up now. She’s come to feel it’s one of her better features. Her brown eyes are still hidden behind her glasses (contacts are such a hassle, and with an infinite supply of glasses why bother?)
She still likes her halter tops and favours simple functionality over extravagance, but time with more fashion-inclined acquaintances means she’s slightly more partial to paying attention to her appearance, and isn’t averse to dressing up now and again.
Planners run on deadlines and dates, so her trusty organiser is never very far from her hands.
[Background:]
Adrian had a somewhat difficult (though unremarkable) childhood, with her family dissolving at an early age-she used to wonder if this might not have contributed to her need to seek strong personalities by whom to be led. She managed to keep out of trouble and did well in her schooling, but kept very much to herself for a long period of time, up until she became acquainted with one Celeste Inpax. Though she was younger than Ms. Inpax she came to admire her as everything she wished she could be-powerful, self-secure, confident, dedicated-and the two formed a close friendship. It was in this manner that she eventually followed when Celeste entered the entertainment industry, modelling herself on the older woman and depending on her for self-validation.
She was somewhat put out when Celeste became involved with a young man she was managing, but didn’t think very seriously of it afterwards even as she followed in her transfer between studios. It wasn’t long after Celeste became involved with her new client that the trouble began, and she knew she’d been wrong. Following Celeste’s death she closed up entirely and forced herself to adopt a cool exterior, while inwardly calculating what would be her revenge.
More recently, over the past few years, Adrian’s applied her particular determination to succeeding in her new career, and it’s gone well for her. Following the success of the Kurain Treasures exhibit she was contracted to co-ordinate several more events taking place at the Lordly Tailor before formally establishing her own event-planning business, which has since seen her pick up jobs in a number of varying fields. Apart from a couple of freelance stints she hasn’t made too many forays back into the old world of managing, although she can and does on occasion make use of her connections and skills in the field, primarily in the interest of aiding friends or acquaintances.
Now that she’s left her twenties behind, Adrian’s been thinking more than she used to about her life. Finally being secure and happy in a new line of work has given her time to consider other goals: in particular, she’s surprised to find herself wondering on occasion about the possibility of a family.
