"What are we doing here?" Wyatt asked, looking out the window as DG pulled the truck to a stop in the driveway. She threw the shifter into park and turned the key before looking at him with a half-smile.

"Humor me," she asked, undoing her seatbelt and opening the door. Wyatt huffed and watched as she moved around the front of the truck and waved to him. Giving her a nod, he quickly undid his own seatbelt and climbed out of the truck.

They'd been looking at houses all morning, but he hadn't really seen anything he liked. Of course, he wasn't really looking, which could be part of the problem. It wasn't that he didn't want to find a place... he just...

"C'mon," DG nodded, pulling him toward her and wrapping her arm around his. She'd already spoken to the realtor and he gave her the code for the key box; while she managed that, Wyatt took a chance to look out at the rest of the subdivision. Some houses were already occupied, but most were still under construction.

They weren't terribly far from the Zone, and they were a bit closer to his parents... but it would be a bit of a drive to the loft. As DG opened the door, he turned back and gave her a look.

"Really?" he asked. The place was huge. Not like 'Wow, this is a big empty house,' but huge.

"Oh, pretend," DG said with a wave, pushing him inside. They walked into the living room. Wyatt, of course, went straight to the support columns separating the space from what was probably intended as a dining room and he pushed on the wall. DG disappeared around the corner to look at the kitchen and he followed, eyes wide at the amount of space.

"This room is the size of my entire apartment," she said, waving to the room. Wyatt laughed and moved over to the door next to the fridge and stuck his head into the dark room.

"Damn," he breathed, taking in the size of the pantry. He pulled back and moved around the island to join DG by the window. "Why are we here, Gracie?" he asked, nudging her with his elbow.

"Let's go see the Master Bedroom," she winked and grabbed his hand. Wyatt shook his head and let her lead him back into the living room.

"This whole thing has gone to your head, Princess. Not good," he trailed as she turned and stuck her tongue out. She moved around the corner and went right while he popped his head into an open door on the left. Turning back toward the room she'd gone in, he passed another bedroom and found her looking out another window.

Wyatt stuck his head into the Master Bath and then the closet and groaned. "Who calls this a closet?" DG smiled and moved toward his voice, finding him glaring at the wire racks.

"Well, there are five other closets," she shrugged.

"Five?" DG nodded.

"One, two, three-" she counted, pointing from that closet to the two rooms he'd looked into and then down. "And three downstairs."

"There's a downstairs?" he asked, ducking around her and back into the hallway. DG shook her head and followed after him. He moved back toward the kitchen and spotted the stairs, not sure how he'd missed them the first two passes.

As he reached the last step, his eyes went wide at the sight of the large open space. "Damn," he breathed, looking like he'd just been given free-range of tool section at Sears. DG stopped behind him and smiled when he turned back to her. "There's a bar in the basement," he laughed and turned again, stepping over to the countertop.

He popped his head into the bedroom in the back corner, as well as the storage area and then moved back into the main room. On the other side, under the three bedrooms upstairs, there were two more bedrooms and another large room. He gave another look outside by way of the sliding door and then headed back upstairs to see the garage.

DG shook her head and smiled again, entertained by his sudden enthusiasm. She was honestly expecting some sort of comment about the construction or the layout or the materials, but he hadn't said anything yet.

It was much more space than they could ever need, but the advantages to the space made the possibility worth the effort. As she moved up the stairs, DG wondered how the guys would react. They'd been supportive of both of them when Wyatt announced it was time to move out - he’d been living with them for about seven years - but DG could see that it was hurting all three of them.

The last thing she wanted to do was tear the boys apart, which is why she'd asked the realtor to look for some houses with more rooms. "Hey," Wyatt said from behind her, thumb over his shoulder. "There's stairs from the garage down here, too."

"And the bathroom at the end of the hall, there, has a door outside," she stated, nodding toward the two bedrooms. Wyatt made a face and then turned to go see for himself as DG headed up the stairs with a grin.

Wyatt made it up the stairs a few moments later and found her sitting in the middle of the floor, staring at the fireplace. He moved over to her side and sat down, stretching his legs out and leaning on his elbows. He threw another glance around the room and laid back. “This place is huge,” he said quietly.

DG shifted slightly and laid back, resting her head on his chest. "That it is," she sighed and smiled when he took her hand.

He turned slightly to look toward the door. "Are we gonna get in trouble for being here?" DG laughed slightly and glanced at her watch. They had another five minutes before Raoul and Ambrose were supposed to show up, assuming they hadn't gotten lost.

"You could fit two of my parents' house in here," Wyatt commented, waving toward the ceiling. "Was your house this big?" he asked, nudging her shoulder. DG smiled, but said nothing. It was actually bigger.

"You know we don't have to make a decision today, hun," Wyatt offered a moment later. "We'll find somethin'..." DG turned rested her head against his shoulder and pointed to the wall on their left.

"Y'know what I see on that wall?" she asked, glancing up to him. Wyatt smiled and shook his head. "Gold records, magazine covers... and that big room downstairs, the one with the doors," she continued, turning toward him again, waiting for a nod. "A recording studio."

Wyatt smiled and pulled her hand up to his lips. "Fill in those arches there," he nodded behind them. "Make a pretty cool office." DG smiled. "But... six bedrooms?"

"Guest room," DG offered, pointing to the closest room to where they were.

"Five," Wyatt laughed and held up a hand.

"Master bedroom," she countered, pushing one of his fingers down.

"Four."

"One room for the shrine. Which gives you a closet," she added with a smile.

"A room for the shrine," he said with reverence. Sighing dramatically, Wyatt shook his head. "Needs that whole space next to the bar. Four." DG rolled her eyes and smiled as she heard Ambrose at the door.

"Three, two," she counted, dropping two of his fingers and pointing to the door as the two of them pushed inside. Wyatt turned to see his friends staring at the large space in awe and sat up, giving a look to DG.

"Whoa..." Raoul breathed, moving past the two of them and going straight for the sliding-glass door and porch. Ambrose moved toward the kitchen and giggled slightly as he turned back to Wyatt and DG, who were still sitting on the floor.

Wyatt turned just enough to see the look DG was giving her lap and he glanced up to his friends. "Check out the basement," he suggested, nodding toward the stairs and he stood up, pulling DG up with him. Raoul looked up to Ambrose and the both of them bolted for the stairs, sounding like a herd of elephants was going downstairs.

Wyatt turned to DG and tilted his head. "Wha-"

DG gripped his wrist and swallowed. "I know that you want to move on, cut the cord... grow up." He laughed. "And I know that you think you're ready to be without them," DG nodded and placed her hand over his heart. "But I don't think they're ready to be without you," she said quietly, moving her hand to his cheek.

"This way," she continued. "They can come and go as they please. And, when they're ready to go... I just want to keep my family together," DG shrugged and Wyatt pulled her to him and kissed her. Pulling away a second later - they could hear Raoul and Glitch yelling about the stairs in the garage - Wyatt pressed his forehead to DG's.

"Still two," he challenged.

"Give one to Conor," DG shrugged. "He's always around, anyway."

Wyatt snorted. "Can you imagine all of us under one roof?" He pulled back and looked around the room again. "There's no way we can aff-" DG put a finger to his lips and shook her head.

"Don't worry about that." Wyatt’s eyes narrowed and he shook his head.

"No, Gracie," he breathed. DG narrowed her own eyes and stared him down.

"Stop. Just enjoy the moment," she suggested, giving him a light smile. Wyatt sighed and closed his eyes, then nodded.

"You still owe me one," he reminded her with a shake of his head. If she was going to seriously consider this plan, he needed complete justification - regardless of the fact that he was sold by the bar and the stairs in the garage.

Taking his hand, DG pulled him toward the three bedrooms and into the second one. Stopping him in the middle of the room, she wrapped her arms around him and smiled. "It'll take some work on your part," she offered with a sly grin. "-but I have an idea..."

Wyatt glanced at the wall for a second then blinked. Turning back to her, he smiled and nodded.

"Sold."

* the shrine is the Star Trek stuff in his closet. Because that's where he keeps it... don't ask..
* that last room is intended as a nursery... on down the road ;)

and, for grins: the floorplan It's isn't the first thing I pictured... but the room layout worked out rather well! :)

Last one... for now ;)
