still in the middle of nowhere.
Hey hey. Still in California. On the minus side the room is still small and horrible. There are four twin beds stuffed into a space about 2/3 the size of the main room in my basement. We eventually did find pillows; they were in this brown...thing attached to the wall. I'm not sure why they put them out there. On the plus side, tidal pools are so cool! I saw three starfish (which I'd never seen outside an aquarium before, a very small turtle, a bunch of anemones, and countless hermit crabs with
krazykat. The water was freezing! The place is gorgeous in a zen rock garden kind of way. The trees are all scrubby pines twisted into strange shapes. The flowers are shockingly vivid, colors so bright they'd be almost garish if the rest of the surroundings weren't so austere. I took pictures, but the bright pinks, reds and yellows don't quite come through. The food is also excellent in a california gourmet granola kind of way (Pecan pancakes and odwalla orange juice for breakfast). I'm not sure if it was the cooking or the fact that my body was convinced that it was 1)30 despite the clock only saying 6:30, but....those pancakes were awesome. The conference doesn't start until 1 pacific time (4 our time), and
krazykat and I are both firmly on Eastern time so we're getting our exploring and people watching done before it starts seeing as ourschedule is pretty packed. See everyone next week!
