all you do is chat shit

What They Said meme. I realise I'm doing a lot of these things of late, but this one is actually interesting. I tag all of you, because I want your music.

Upload five songs which you love because of a specific lyric. Explain yourself. Make everyone else do the same. Go!

Frank Turner - Sunshine State
Your love was only just skin deep, and in the end it gave me cancer.
I like to think that when this line was written Pete Wentz woke up twitching and didn't know why. It's made all the more bitter by the fact that for the first two minutes you're absolutely convinced this is an actual, honest-to-god love song. Bonus points for discussing the migratory pattern of famous Canadians. Oh, Frank Turner. How are you real?

Gay for Johnny Depp - Belief in God is So Adorable
Life's just a fisting without lubricant.
This isn't their best song, but I love them unreservedly and am glad that they wrote this line because it neatly sums up everything I want to tell people when introducing them to the band. Apart from their theory that Johnny Depp is going to deliver us from evil using only the gifts god gave him and an industrial-sized tub of vaseline, obviously.

Ellliott Smith - Waltz #2
I'm never going to know you now, but I'm gonna love you anyhow.
Shut up, I know. But the last chorus! My heart! It sounds like the sky falling, okay? Stop judging me.

Kill Casino - Nights
I'll carve your name in any surface you desire.
This is the most misleadingly Hole-like of Kill Casino's songs, but it's also one that I enjoy most. Karen Luan's voice is amazing and, although her lyrics are generally patchy, this line and her delivery of it are spot on. There's just something about being violently, stupidly devoted to someone that she captures perfectly.

The Lobotomies - Holidays and Holy Wars
I don't care what you believe, Mohammed, Buddha, Christ, but religious rule of society is a wholly criminal heist.
I love this line because it is a) true and b) the best opening to any album, ever and c) that rarest of things, a good pun.

multi-player games, pimping with the best of them, a song of sixpence
