I am thinking that those who are yelling loudly about how using the descriptive "Christmas" on anything from trees to retail sales is unfair to those who are not Christian really need to take three giant steps and get over themselves.
I am struggling to find the right words to use here; it is not about how media and marketing are removing "Christ" from all that is right and good, or whatever the reasoning is at the moment. It is about how we are never going to be able to celebrate diversity if we are too afraid to actually be diverse.
So light candles, make a pilgrimage or two, fast, feast, trim a tree, burn a log, tell tales of festivus's past and invite your friends to share with you.
But, whatever you do, make it yours.
