I was thinking...as I watched Obama's weekly address...who are we going to go to war with?
See...my degree has minors in History and Political Science...and something we discussed in most of those classes was War and the economy. Major depressions in our history have been resolved by sending the nation to war. Notably: there was one before the Civil War...a more well-known one before World War II...there was even a recession before the freakin' War of 1812.
War stimulates economy for a bunch of reasons. But we're kind of in war already...and it doesn't seem to be helping the economy. So are we going to enter a new, bigger war? Are we going to attack Russia? Bomb North Korea? Invade Canada?
I don't think Obama wants to throw us into another war...but he's only one man. And he's not in office yet. I joke around with my friends and say stuff like "Oh Bush will declare a national emergency his last month in office and say he needs to stay on for another four years and make himself into Dictator O'USA and I'm going to end up in a 'Happy Camp'" But what if that really happens?
If I was more awake...there'd be a more coherent argument here. Either way...what do YOU think is going to happen?
