I'm still alive...kinda
Ugh. I hate being away from the Internet for more than a day or two at a time. I feel like I've missed out on something...and I realize that's slightly pathetic. ANYWAY: move #4 of the year is complete! I have such a love/hate relationship with moving...but the more I do it, the less I care about it. And after that move from Indiana to New York (and back again) with only what would fit in my Jeep...other moves definitely seem smaller and insignificant. So that's good, right? I'm gonna say it is.
-The Supernatural season finale broke my heart. I almost started crying when Sam did and I never cry because of TV/movie/book endings. It was just *sigh* emotional. My brother walked in the door a few minutes after the episode ended and I had to jump up and hug tackle him. He just rolled his eyes and put up with it (he'd been watching the episode too). He's a good brother...sometimes.
My only complaint is that I wished we didn't have the chain sequence with Dean screaming for his brother. Why? Quite frankly, I thought it was cheesy. Too computer animated-ish. I think they could have gotten the same effect if they'd just gone to black and all you could hear was him screaming. But whatever...still broke my heart. And I'm still going to be going crazy until September. C'est la vie.
-Alex's birthday outing was fun. We ate yummy food at The Trojan Horse (it's a Greek place downtown Bloomington), walked around the square a bit, then went and played at a playground for a couple hours. lol. IT WAS FUN!! And it's pretty much the most awesomest playground ever. If she gets pictures online, maybe I'll share. We'll see.
-I read my first slash fic the other night. I've generally avoided slash, not because I have anything against guy on guy (trust me...I've lived with enough gay men I've been exposed to/heard/seen more gay sex than het...and that's saying something sad about my own sex life...) but because the ones I've skimmed across have been pretty weird and way OOC. Not that slash is supposed to be 100% in character...but I tend to lean towards fics that stick to character in general...or are at least plausible deviations.
But anyway...this fic I found was really well written and I didn't think it went too far out there. It was a Shawn/Lassiter fic (Psych), which I've seen A LOT of out there (seriously...I think 1/3 of the Psych stories on FanFiction.Net are some variation of Shassi) and I've attempted to read before, but never really found any that I didn't roll my eyes through reading. I think a huge part of why I liked it was because it covered the development of the relationship more and wasn't just straight out "Shawn and Lassiter are doing the nasty in the evidence room" kind of thing. Which has the potential to be kinky....but ya gotta make me believe it. Yeah, I know, I'm needy. Whatever. So anyway...now I'm probably going to skim through a bunch of Psych slash in an attempt to find another one I enjoy. Any suggestions?
-I think I'm getting ready to start a major Supernatural meta. Joseph Campbell, Hero's Journey type stuff. It started with this post but now I really want to try and find more "evidence" to back up my arguments. And I wanna start with the Pilot and work my way through. Maybe categorize each episode by where I think it fits into the Journey. We'll see. Like I said...it'll be major meta.
I'm like 99% sure there was something else I wanted to share...but for the life of me I can't figure out what that was right now. Oh well. Maybe I'll have another post soon.
