So I finally got around to watching The X-Files: I Want to Believe...and now I feel the need to do some sort of semi-review (since The X-Files was technically my first fandom...way back before I knew what "fandom" was). It's pointless random. No need to actually read (unless you're extremely bored).
I was never very excited about this movie. I gave up on the series about mid-way through the 7th Season (though, honestly, I think the first movie and the movie to California after the 5th Season was when I began to let go). This movie came out and I was all "Eh, I'll see it eventually." And eventually it popped up on my Netflix queue.
The best part of the movie: Unexpected CKR is often evil LOVE.
After that...eh.
I didn't think it was necessarily bad...I just didn't think it was movie worthy. If that makes sense. The first movie at least had a story big enough that it needed the big screen. This movie would've made a decent hour-long episode.
I enjoyed the on-screen Mulder/Scully at least. Though all during that last scene by the car I kept thinking "that house is fucking everywhere" and not so much "Awwww". (Or maybe that's just me watching too many things filmed around Vancouver....)
So yeah...I don't think it sucked...but I think it was unsatisfying. Yeah we got Mulder/Scully (and CKR) but the story wasn't all that great. Just my opinion anyway.
ETA: I gotta rec this vid while I'm at it:
A Home - Mulder and Scully by
