My birthday celebration with David

Can't believe I didn't post anything about my birthday celebration this year!

David took leave on the actual day and accompanied me the whole day! He went for his bike lesson first while I went to renew my passport and read at NLB till he was ready at 11.30am. As he'd booked a table at Irodori POMO, I decided to walk there from NLB, which was surprisingly not as far away as I had thought. Needless to say, it was a great lunch and it was not just the food! It has been a long time since we had sat down just like that for a few hours, with a pretty quiet environment, and chatted about life. Usually we talk about work and bosses even when we meet nowadays. I recall David telling me about his life as a nerd/otaku/gamer, especially since secondary school. He'd go to the LAN shop or the arcade at Katong, play video games at home during the holidays with Leonard, then in poly, went on to a new phase with mahjong. He had this glow on his face, which has been rarely seen after working life began. Hence I also felt uplifted ;)

After that, we drove to Telok Blangah Safra to bowl. It was heavenly! The pins were light and easy to bowl over, there was hardly anyone there and I managed to hit 133 for the 2nd time :) Since we were in the area, we went to have a peek at our BTO, and I believe our block was already at the 9th level. 21 more levels to build! David also found a cafe called Old Habits nearby where we had dinner. It was quite a small cosy place with vintage decor and vintage music playing. The owner was friendly and the food was good :) David went around taking photos of the decor haha he was so fascinated. Then the owner handed us 2 Viewmasters and invited us to play with them. I was quite pleasantly surprised at his gesture and the experience felt surreal!

Felt energised to go back to work the next day, which was a Wednesday :)
