My favorite Halloween costume was either Jem (of Jem and the Holograms) or Princess Leia. I'm an 80's baby, what can I say.

I read/and or finished three new/newish releases this week! Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypas, The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig, and Great House by Nicole Krauss. I liked CEaFH a lot more than Kleypas's previous contemporary titles, but I'm glad I didn't buy it because it's way too short for a hardcover release. And TMotM was everything I could have ever wanted in a romance for Turnip and now I'm dying for the next official book in the series that's coming out in January.

Also, on a scale of one to ten, how dumb am I for planning to take the second day of NaNo off to read? Look, I've been waiting for the release of the new Nora Roberts book since April. I can't not buy it and read it the day it comes out.

Those are awesome costumes! I think my favourite was when my friends and I dressed up as the gang from Wizard of Oz. I was the scarecrow.

I have been seriously slacking on the reading in October, I'm a little ashamed of myself. I don't even know what I did instead. (That's a lie, I watched TV, hahaha). But good for you!

I'd say about a 7? But still do it! My prof gave me a huge reading list if I plan on doing PhD applications, so I'm going to be doing a lot of juggling in November, methinks.

Oh, that's a good one! My sister dressed up as Luke when I was Leia, which was oddly appropriate.

I feel like I've read a ton this month, but part of that was that I read so much YA that I could get through it more quickly. I think I was getting through two Tamora Pierce books a day for awhile.

I'm strongly considering cheating and writing tomorrow to make up for it. But even if I don't, it's one night (because I will finish it the same night I get it, that's like science), and I'll be too distracted if I tried NOT to read it.

Haha, that is seriously adorable!

And yes, reading YA does help the book count go up. I say go for it, it's only one day and you can make it up later if necessary (or start early, I won't tell!) If I'd been waiting that long, no way I could wait another month.

If I had a picture of it, I would totally post it because it was pretty cute.

Well, I could just read it the next day on the bus and at work, but I know better than to think that I'll have any willpower once it's actually in my hands. Me = weak.

That is a feeling I know well when it comes to books!

That's pretty awesome, you and your sister. There was one year I dressed as an fairy princess and she dressed up as a witch. Opposites, lol.

Hm. I'd say about a 6? Does this mean you've decided to plunge into NaNo this year? Did I know about this?!?!?!

I think that was the only year our costumes were remotely coordinated.

I have! And maybe? I actually don't think I've talked about it on my LJ much. But yes! I'm going to try it. We'll see how it goes. But speaking of a completely unrelated subject except in my brain -- WHEN ARE WE WATCHING EVERWOOD?

TODAY!!! This is why I came on LJ!! I have some chilling time before I run errands (i.e., pick up daggers for my costume and make arm sleeves) and before boy comes over in the evening, so I was thinking we could squeeze the first few episodes!!!!!!

I really liked it. It took a little while to get going, but the overlapping stories are really wonderfully done. And A History of Love is phenomenal. You should read that, too.

I should try Lisa Kleypas some time. I see her name mentioned a lot. (But not this year!)

Not dumb at all, since it's just one day! And it's the second day of NaNo, so you have lots of time to catch up. Besides, I can never do anything much if what I really want to do is read. I know the theory is to use such things as rewards, but that's never worked for me, since I know I'll just read them anyway, haha.

I really like her! She writes mostly historicals, though, and I'm not sure where you stand with that type of romance novel. (Also, I like Julia Quinn better if you've never read her.)

Hee, I'm glad you see it my way. There's no way I could not read that book, especially when you factor me taking the bus to go buy it and then starting it on the bus on the way home. Like I'd be able to STOP reading it once I start. And who knows, maybe I'll have a really productive first day! I can hope anyway.
