I'm ALMOST done with Long May She Reign. I've been a little bit distracted with Farscape (and all of the DYING), but I swear I am going to finish it this afternoon at some point. MEG ♥
Working on Anne of Avonlea, The Blind Assassin, and The Mischief of the Mistletoe at the same time, but really focusing on Long May She Reign for now.
I will think on the book recs. I never know where to start with them... ;) You should definitely fill out the rest of your Austen collection while you're at it, if you haven't already.
YAY! (For Long May She Reign, not the Farscape dying because YEAH. That season is brutal.)
How are you liking The Blind Assasin? I'm hoping to start The Handmaid's Tale pretty soon, but am not doing so well with book planning, lol. I keep "accidentally" reading other things instead of whatever I said I would!
I have the complete collection, so I'm good there!
THE FARSCAPE DYING IS JUST ... IT WAS THREE AM AND I WAS CRYING BUT NOT AS MUCH AS AERYN WAS.
Long May She Reign has been fantastic so far. Just like Long Live the Queen.
I really haven't made it too far into The Blind Assassin yet. I started it on my way back from vacation, but then that week I was doing Anna and the French Kiss and Anne of Green Gables AND I got distracted with a couple of the Lauren Willig books, so Blind Assassin has gone on the back burner for a little while.
I love The Handmaid's Tale, though. One of my favorites :D
SEE WHAT I MEANT ABOUT WATCHING THEM ALL AT ONCE???????? OH AERYN.
I think it's probably my favorite! SO GOOD.
Yay! I'm excited to read it. I have several YA dystopia waiting for me that get compared to it and I've wanted to read it for a while, but I'm definitely reading it before I get to any knock offs, lol.
I think my favorite moment so far was the star chart, but IT'S SO HARD TO PICK. There's all kinds of great making out, and then it's all DEATH DEATH DEATH. Whyyyyyy? Oh, Aeryn ♥
Heee. I'm REALLY loving it. It's quite possible that this will be my favorite as well.
Definitely read it first! It's probably my favorite dystopian novel. Well, that and The Giver.
And Ben Browder wrote that ep!!! But yessssss. It's like, yay! We actually get making out . . . and then they take it away in such a horrible way!
The Giver is awesome! But, yeah, I do think I'll get to it soon. I can just be so lazy about starting books, you know? I read a lot, but not always in a very organized way.
OH WOW. I didn't know Ben wrote that ep! THAT MAKES IT EVEN BETTER. I laughed so much when he named three of the stars Huey, Dewey, and Louie. THE RANDOM POP CULTURE REFERENCES ON THIS SHOW ARE HILARIOUS TO ME.
Seriously, so much great making out. NOT EVERYONE CAN KISS LIKE THAT.
The Giver is definitely awesome! I know what you mean about being lazy starting books. I am not the world's most organized reader/planner. As shown by the fact that I'm reading 3-4 books at the moment.
Isn't that pop culture the best??? I love that it really is what would happen if someone today (okay, 10 years ago) encountered aliens!
I KNOW, RIGHT??? I forgot to warn you they ruin you for EVERY OTHER SHIP EVER!
I think I'm in the middle of three, but am only actively reading one? Lol, there's a difference! But maybe after my Borders closes, therefore making me buy far fewer books, I'll try to come up with some kind of reading plan? Or, well, I'm good at making reading plans, just not at sticking at them! Maybe I need to start actually writing them down or something, so I can at least laugh at myself when they go horribly wrong.
It really is! It's better than the stuff on Gilmore Girls because I'd say about 50% of that is stuff that doens't mean much of anything to me. THIS IS MORE APPLICABLE, TO ME.
They are going to be one of my #1 arguments for REASONS WHY SHIPS CAN GET TOGETHER AND BE AWESOME.
Yeah, I'm usually only actively reading one, otherwise it gets way too confusing. I think once I cut down on the number of series I'm reading at once, it should help things. I keep trying to plan it out, but then I see something else new and shiny, and I'm lost.
YES!!! The Gilmore Girls stuff was so obscure and I get that was the point, but John is like US!! It's so much more realistic. (LOL, the show with aliens is more realistic!)
THEY ARE ALL MY SHIP ARGUMENTS, EVER! I should link you to some of my ramblings about them and specifically that aspect once you finish. Their pacing is, for me, perfect. They didn't get together so soon I didn't believe in it and they didn't drag it out so long I stopped caring.
Yep. My problem exactly. There are so many books out there! And new ones keep coming out! I think maybe my goal this year should at least be to catch up and keep up with my favorite authors' new releases. Because I even got behind on that last year and that's just sad.
You know what else I find hilarious about John? HOW SOUTHERN HE IS SOMETIMES. His accent. He slips into this really ~southern~ mode, and I JUST HAVE TO LAUGH. LOL, the show with aliens really IS more realistic. If it were to happen, that is.
YES. When I finish, I would love to read your ramblings. They are SO GREAT. I can't wait for what's next, even if it's sad.
Waaaay too many books out there! I've discovered so many new authors/series over the last year. I've tried to make some headway on my reading list, but it just keeps getting LONGER.
Haha, YES. Most of the time I don't even really remember he's southern, but SOMETIMES!!!
And it's all worth it! Even the sad stuff!
Same! And I've been in complete book buying binge mode this last month, so the pile of books waiting for me is rather absurd. It's a good problem to have, I suppose.
Also, LONG MAY SHE REIGN. Best book. I can't wait to hear what you think of it. (Isn't the dying horrible? Season of Death, I rain curses upon your awesome soul.)
I'm reading The Blind Assassin, too, albeit sort of sporadically. I should pick that back up before I totally forget what's going on.
IT IS SO GREAT. I LOVE THIS SERIES. I will probably be finishing it today at some point. (THE DYING. SEASON OF DEATH. I CANNOT HANDLE THIS MUCH AWESOME/SAD ALL AT ONCE.)
Yeah, it got put waaaay on the backburner for me and I'm only about 40 pages in. I swear as soon as I get more caught up with Lauren Willig and AOGG, it's my next priority. I also have been wanting to do Jane Eyre and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass. Why is there not enough time in the day?
I am going to need to know your feelings on Meg/Preston, just so you know. (I should feel worse that it's always my first question, considering how much other awesome stuff there is in there, but I can't help who I am. Also, you can read my awesome yuletide gift after you finish it, if you find yourself looking for fic.)
Do you just have The Orchid Affair left then in your Willig read? I felt so spoiled to get two awesome books within about four months of each other. It's making the wait for the next one even worse, lol.
And buying lots of books at my closing Borders. Now's the time to give me books recs. ;) (. . . that will sit on my shelf forever, but SOMEDAY.)
Filled out my Austen bracket and feel like I probably got some obvious ones wrong when it comes to the books I haven't read yet!
