The first episode of season 2 was completely not up to my expectations.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy it. Because I did, being a avid glee fan. I'd be happy as long as a get an episode, and I get to see chris <3
However, it did not live up to my expectations.
I expected it to start with a bang, but it didn't. I didn't understand the purpose of the first scene where Jacob is interviewing the people. It completely did not contribute to the part. Sure, it was pretty funny - especially the quip about will's rapping - but it didn't flow.
I didn't like the Finn-Rachel interactions. They do not look like a couple AT ALL. It seemed more real when Rachel was making his and her calendars in hell-o. And their kiss was extremely random, and it seemed forced. Too forced into the story (what was left of it), such that it was just odd.
Santana got a boob job, I'm gonna come straight out. WHY? That does not make any sense. I have a suspicion that it was just a reason for the producers to make Quinn high up in the Cheerios again.
The only plot line I could actually follow was that of Coach Beiste. It was the only part that actually did make sense as a whole, and accounts for Will and Sue's actions. Yes, she raised the budget for the football team, resulting in budget cuts for the Cheerios and Glee Club, so it was understandable that they would want to ruin her. They were acting overly childish though, and I think sneaking and conniving rather than childish is more of Sue Sylvester's style.
I was pretty shocked at Charice. And her name. Sunshine? What kind of weird name is that? And she is frighteningly short. Lea Michele is already pretty short, but Charice is even shorter! -shock- I really did like her voice though. But discrepancy - I didn't understand the sudden butting in of Vocal Adrenaline; that was really random.
And then Chord. Or Sam. I agree with Artie - the Bieber cut HAS to go. Other than that, I think he's pretty okay, but I thought he was supposed to be a rival? How can he be a rival to Finn when Finn is no longer on the team? That makes no logical sense.
This wasn't really supposed to be a review. I have no idea how to review a show. But overall, I'm glad glee is back, even though I feel the first episode is extremely problematic.
Besides, the promo for the next episode, 2.02 Britney/Brittany looks really good, and I'm so excited for it. I've always been kind of a Britney fan even though she may not have been the best role model at times. Also looking forward to hearing Heather Morris' solo! :)
