The Mental State

So I haven't had time to post all my food. However, I've decided to forgive myself for that, and do the best I can. I've been doing alright in the food department. Not perfect, but definitely better. And I lost 4 pounds over the last 10 days, so I must be doing something right!

I had my first appointment at the Diabetes Center today. I learned some things. A lot I knew already. The session has made it even more clear to me that I need to get this under control within the next three months. I cannot deal with the long term effects and needs of diabetes. 4 more sessions to go. Next one is Monday with a nutritionist.

SunGard kicked off a new benefit today as part of its Wellness Works campaign. (All year, they've been having health focused initiatives, benefits, and information for us.) This one is the Virgin Health Miles program. Basically, they give you a pedometer that you wear all the time, you upload your steps to your account on their website, and they reward you with up to $500 in cash or gift cards each year. There are no gift cards to restaurants :) So I signed up and got my pedometer, and I walked about 2800 steps before I hit the treadmill. So 10,000 steps a day is a very hard thing to do. And I'd like to walk more than that. I'll have to come up with creative ways to get in more steps. More creative than parking farther away from the building. I do that already. I already started pacing while waiting for the elevator. (And no, I cannot walk up 8 flights of steps. At least not right now. Oh, but maybe I could walk down them...) Any ideas?
