Eee this was fun!
Here are before, during, and after photos of the head.
I replaced the nose, reshaped the muzzle, moved the eyes and replaced the eyescreen, added some cheekbones, remade the brows, and brushed/airbrushed/trimmed it.
The original head had some really good features but was being drug down by lazy eyes and a blocky muzzle. Aside from some painting I did not touch the lower jaw, teeth, or lips and I did not even have to remake the eyelids.
Refurbishing someone else's work can be a real gamble but I'm rather impressed with how well it all came out. It's not often I get to begin and finish a whole head in 2 days so that rarely seen instant gratification was a treat :D
The most difficult part was trying to keep everything straight. The original construction is foam over plastic mesh and it seems to enjoy wandering all over and collapsing. I reinforced the bridge of the nose and around the eye mesh to make sure everything stays together :p It is interesting working with materials that are different than my norm.
