I can has a Christmas.

My mommy donated a goat to Heifer in my name. I was very pleased about that.

The most exciting thing I got is probably a digital camera. I had one when I went to Russia, but it got lost/stolen in Germany, so I didn't have one anymore until I got one today! Because without one I'd be sending home crappy cell-phone pictures from New Zealand.

And it's just in time for SAN FRANCISCO!!!! Where Christopher and Grace (the friend, not the sister) and I are going in January. :D

I also got, from my mom, other stuff like Mexican candy and really nice socks (SmartWool) and little miniature notebooks for carrying in your purse and making notes. And super-cute rain boots.

Huntgrr gave me books on Genetic Engineering (exciting for nerdy me) and pineapple soap. And The Collected Stories of Nikolai Gogol.

Gogol is my favorite Russian author, except that he only wrote two-thirds of a novel (only one-third worth reading) and then went and found religion and it killed him.

Gracie gave me a little robot-shaped box made of clay. And an Interlochen mug.

My daddy's parents gave me cookbooks, one of which was Rachael Ray, which is funny because I wrote a paper about how the 30-minute cookbook is a reflection of the standardization of taste encouraged by fast food culture. But the other one looks like it's full of tasty shit. And I'll prolly try some Rachael Ray stuff. I don't have a particular aversion to her, it was just a convenient paper topic and much less lame than being the 500th person to write a paper on The Fast Food Rockers. They also gave me socks. Beautiful warm socks. :D

My aunt Julie gave me chocolate-covered crystallized ginger pieces. My aunt Heidi gave me a thermos.

Chrissy and I haven't had Christmas yet. I'm super-excited about my present for him, but I'll talk about it later.

Gracie and I got our momma a toaster because ours is miserable and pathetic. Hunt also got a toaster, but ours is cuter and matches the breadbox. I got her a picture book of the Universe as well. It's called Cosmos and it's full of amazing and beautiful shit that is mind-bogglingly far away from us. Gracie and I are getting Hunt a massage, but we didn't think of it 'til Friday and the place he likes to go was closed all weekend for Christmas, so I made him a card explaining how much we suck. Yes. I got Gracie a shirt from Threadless with little guys embroidering a t-rex on it.

My momma's family does Secret-Santa style exchanges for the kids in college and immediately post-college, so I got a Dick's gift card from my to-be cousin-in-law Elizabeth and I gave her a recipe book called 500 Cupcakes. 500 of them. Yum. I also finally gave Beth her present from last year which I lamely didn't get wrapped in time for Christmas and was working all day and never brought to her. It's a Ukrainian Easter Egg decorating kit. They're actually pretty simple to make and really fun. She seemed really stoked about it.

Chrissy had her for the Secret Santa this year and he got her a predictions kit from Barnes and Nobles or something. She actually is Wiccan, so he was worried she'd be insulted by it (he worries), but she was delighted. She kept cooing about how pretty the tarot deck was. And stuff.

Chrissy's family's Christmas is the 29th. I'm really excited. I love them.
