Well I pulled my first 14.5 hour shift yesterday. I'm goin 13.5 hours today. I don't really mind doing it because the work isn't hard, it's just boring. The other thing that sux is that the only reason I'm doing this in the first place is because of funky uncontrollable circumstances. On Tuesday the 4pm-12am guard, Jim, got orders to do his reserve training and he had to leave that day. That's okay because the 12 hour shifts aren't to bad. But then the 12am-8am guard, Dewey, called me yesterday morning after he got home to tell me that his mother had died. So, obviously he couldn't make it into work. We have a contract guard service, Wackenhut, that covers our building on the weekends and in situations such as this when we don't have the man-power to do it. But they only had one guard available and she had to be somewhere else at 7 this morning and couldn't get here until 10:30 last night. So yesterday I worked from 8am to 10:30pm and got back here this morning at 6:30 and I'm on until 8pm. I knew there would be some overtime with this position but I wasn't expecting this!
