I am at my wits end with my cat, Pixel. I don't know what to do with her. She's been peeing on my bed regularly. I never catch her doing it, but I know it's her. I don't understand it, I don't know what's wrong ( Read more... )

One more question - sorry to be flooding your LJ with comments. :)

How thoroughly are you cleaning your bed after each incident? If the urine has at all soaked into the mattress, it's almost impossible to get all of the scent and pheromones out of it.

If Pixel's peeing on the bed has at any time been because she's marking territory, then the scent of her urine is only going to reinforce that territory to her, and she may not stop doing it until all traces of that urine are gone. You may also want to check to see if she's sprayed the wall or peed on the floor under or near the bed - most pet stores sell black-light flashlights (current ones have UV LEDs) that you can shine on suspicious spots. Any urine will appear bright yellow under such a light, so it's easy to see.

If there's urine in your mattress, I'm afraid your only option would be to replace the mattress and get a waterproof cover for it. For the carpet and wall, look into getting "Nature's Miracle" or another similar enzyme-based cleaner, as well as a good carpet cleaner (we find "Kids & Pets" brand works quite well). These products work to neutralize urine odors and kill the bacteria, and after a few treatments, hopefully your cat will stop marking the area in question.

Hope this helps. :)
