I think the toughest habit to break from India so far has been how to interact with unfamiliar men in public. In India, every space is fairly explicitly gendered, and it's really hard for me to remember that in the US I'm not necessarily in a man's world when I'm moving around in public. I just went into a restaurant and saw that everyoen there was a man, and actually turned around to leave before I realized that that isn't necessarily a weird or uncomfortable thing in the US. I actually got teased, kind of, in Amsterdam when I was in a coffeeshop and didn't say anything to a dude when he said hi to me. I did the India thing where you fleetingly look up and acknowledge the person's presence (without smiling) and then ignored him. It's weird.
