Éire: Ba Mhaith Liompiontae Beoir [I’d like a pint of beer]

Ireland isn’t known for variety in their beer like Germany or Belgium but Dublin’s Porterhouse Brewing Company will change that. It’s got all the brewpub angles covered - their own quality beers on tap, a massive bottled offering, good food and a great looking bar. We spent a lot of quality time there and I broke plenty of new ground.

The Bull & Castle was an ok restaurant but the beer hall was awesome and reminded me of places in Dallas. I had a couple new ones there also but due to time didn’t make it back.

Visiting the Guinness Storehouse at St.James Gate was a nice pilgrimage. It would be better if you got a pint to start the tour in addition to the one at the end as this isn’t a brief stop. I got thirsty with all this education and history I was being exposed to.

Selection-wise, it was usually Guinness, Murphy’s, Smithicks, Heinecken, Harp and Carlsberg at bars and stores. Those are the macros in Ireland.

The oddest part was seeing Coors Light and Budweiser on tap beside the Euro beers, in fact I saw it a little more than I cared to. This was about as bad as bringing Christianity to Polynesia, South America, etc.
