I offered to convert the tapes to digital - wav & mp3. You never know what’s going to happen to those little bitty tapes -crush/kill/destroyed by housepets, people fumbling around in the dark, etc. Now multiple copies can be saved for the family to always have.
I’m on-call and working from home, so I let the tapes play while working. It wasn’t too hard to listen to, as her father didn’t seem to be in pain.
I should’ve done the eulogy tape first instead of last, because in a sense I got to meet her father through these interviews. I also have met a few family members and have seen a lot of pictures, so this made it even more like a funeral for someone I knew. Definitely a surreal experience.
