OK, Casino

No matter where or what casino you’re at, you’re going to see a lot of the same things. It’s always entertaining and interesting. However, this seemed to be a dry casino -NO BOOZE, as I didn’t see anyone drinking. Because of that, I’d say that this wasn’t the full casino experience but really, you’ve got to go to Las Vegas for that.

Still there were some of the usual sights and questions:

  • Asian folks take gambling seriously - massive stacks of chips at the tables
  • If you need an oxygen supply tank, why hang out in a smoke-filled casino?
  • Older guy with the much younger girl [possibly the father but you never know…]
  • Chain-smoking legions of slot machine players
  • Annoying person with a cigar [who was also chewing tobacco]

The Damned Buffet from the Damned for The Damned
Enthusiasm is contagious, especially when there’s none. This was a small town’s version of a casino buffet and while decent for home cooking, it wasn’t restaurant quality -at least compared to Dallas. This food sank my Black Jack Mojo.

Mojo No Go-Go
Black Jack is my chosen game. This casino featured a first for me, a 50¢ “collection fee” per hand on table games for bets up to $50. Anything over $50, the “hand tax” was $1 but I’m not in that league of gambling. The usual rise and fall of my bankroll happened but I actually crapped out on this occasion.

Highlights were two blackjacks in a row with a full table of people and splitting aces to receive another ace - three on one deal, resulting in three splits on the same hand. This was another first for me. I won two of the splits and pushed on the thrid.

I considered this a practice run, since I hadn’t been in a casino in over two years. Most importantly, I stayed on budget and didn’t catch any “fevers” unlike a certain someone in my company.

Downright Slotty Behavior
Playing the slots, BeerDiabla did not take heed to Kenny Roger’s sage words from “The Gambler”. She was up to $75 and I remarked, “I recommend you cash out at $50”.

“You’re bringing me bad luck. Go away, go away!”

Quetzie then nudged me and pointed that BeerDiabla was two-timing me with Xochipilli.

“Dude, it’s not like that.”

“Oh, wait and see, essay.”

I came back later and saw her at $42.75 and asked about the $50 recommendation. She said, “Well, things happen.” I was shooed away again.

I went and played more blackjack, then found her again and she was at $30-ish remarking, “I cashed out at $100 and couldn’t find you”.

I was at the blackjack table behind her and pointed this out but what’s done is done. Xochipilli left her high and dry. I didn’t drag it out, as it’s best not to be a controlling asshole.
