Thursday, I head down to Dixie to support the processor migration which kicked off this past weekend.
Rough start with more than a few refinements for this weekend. I suspect one or two of their myriad
of problems were cables I overlooked while checking the cabling vendor's work earlier this month.
I blame the fever. :>
This last minute request came early last week as management didn't want a junior level
staff member [Ksam] supporting the move of six systems. I agreed since I'm already working
this weekend and even if I didn't travel; I would've had to have supported this remotely [suck].
Plus this is a prime opportunity to pad my airline miles/hotel points -not to mention make up for
the lack of expense account abuse on my last trip.
Primary Reason; Minor Reasons
We've got a solid recruit lined up for a slot in Dixie. The person worked with Breckenbrew in a
nearby data center when he lived in Dixie. Half their experience is console operations and the rest is
hardware/systems programming. Many interviews this Friday, should be a shoe in.
Adding one more person to the rotation by April/May means that I don't need to trade out
my weekend manager slot for my vacation in May. The status of that is...
