Dick in the War Room
Almost at noon today, InfiddlevestCorp lost a specialty processor
-a coupling facility [think shared memory between multiple processors].
This was an old machine [8 yrs at least] and used for development/some production
and is paired with another machine for failover but there's still impact.
I troubleshot the issue quickly and managed the problem for the rest of the day
for my group -other groups worked on the software side. Replacement parts needed
to be flown in from ATL via chartered flight due to not enough stock in DFW.
Breckenbrew and Samurai helm the repair tonight.
Passing the First Audition
This was our first high profile outage since The Wizard's retirement and he wouldn't have handled this any better.
I enjoyed telling International Beer Mafia's specialist on the call that said “Get The Wizard, he can look at this”,
that I had the information available and Wizard didn't work here any longer.
Kayak -the VP making the hiring decision for The Wizard's slot worked the call and interfaced with me often.
Regarding the blow-up issue a few weeks ago? Nothing else has been said and I think this might be water under
the bridge via today's crisis management but won't get too cocky yet.
