Metalshow at Emo’s. Austin TX 11.05.2010

Nov 08, 2010 22:14

At Emo’s were Suffocation, The Faceless, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Decrepit Birth, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Sarcolytic.
A deathly time had by all included $3 talls and contact highs -some opted directly being that it was an outdoor venue[mini-shed].

Sarcolytic - Austin based brutal technical metal band kicked off a fine set at 7:15 PM as promised. Very polished -they fit the bill well.

Fleshgod Apocalypse: Even near the bottom of the bill, it’s got to be a cool thing for an Italian metal band to tour the states.
I’m surprised that I saw it with my own two eyes and this band was good. The downside is the band’s image/uniforms which,
I believe they intend to be some sort of vile orchestra members, while I kept thinking about waiters at an Italian restaurant.
The blackface isn’t cool but being from Italy, I don’t think they get the American view of it.

Decrepit Birth: Nothing exciting from the "generic but well played" category.

Through the Eyes of the Dead: metal-core-ish w/video game splurts of guitar. No.

The Faceless: Good, progressive death metal.

Suffocation: Interestingly enough, a before-show single Q&A revealed all one needed to know.

I saw guitarist Terrance Hobbs hanging in the crowd during The Faceless’ last song.

“You’re not warming up?” I asked him.

“The line check is all I need.” He replied.

Suffocation hit the stage and well…you know what happened next…
