Two calls woke me up[sniper shot tazering], one at 01:47am and the other at 04:30am. Both incidents shouldn’t have happened.
01:47 Open systems application that interfaces with the mainframe, hiccups. Call the open systems side, rather than me, like the alert says. It recovered instantly.
04:30 An automatic email alert telling me that my manager, Ms.Ed, has still not approved administrative access. Why an auto email comes at this horrid hour is beyond me. It’s easier to get Ms.Ed to address the request than change the alerting system. Though I am going to harass some people.
Loathing the Corporate Dystopia
At InfiddleVestCorp, there’s lots of old things in place that are difficult to change due to groups not existing anymore or lack of contact information -seriously, no phone, email or names associated with things - to even get something addressed. 1MB emails[no longer related to my group’s function] that I automatically send to the delete bin won’t stop, despite being in contact with the groups that supposedly administrate the report to have it stopped [more waste].
It’s like a Sci-fi story where obnoxious machines are still functioning but no one can turn them off because those responsible or have the information to stop the machines are gone.
Now to bide my time until the machines call me to say they’re broken -even if they're not mine.
