Always verify new people in your cell phone before sending pictures. I offer you a case study from someone I’ll call, “Miss Dial”:
[unrecognized #] text message: Hey, did you get the pic? Guess you didnt like that.
BeerDiablo text message: No & who r u?
And that was the truth as of the moment I texted back…
[unrecognized #] text message: What? Oh my gosh I am so sorry. Thank god you didn’t get the pics.
[unrecognized #] text message: Is this not Andy?
[unrecognized #] text message: Quit messin around. That’s not funny.
BeerDiablo text message: No. Either the # is written or dialed wrong but I am not he
It occurred to me that this -whether a mistake or scam attempt- would drag on so I called -voicemail. Left a couple of polite, brief sentences to reassure “Miss Dial” that I was not “Andy”.
My cell rang once, yes, it was her. Then a text followed.
[unrecognized #] text message: I am very sorry I had the wrong number. Please forgive me?
BeerDiablo text message: No worries.
[unrecognized #] text message: I hope I didn’t get anyone in trouble.
*There’s more but, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow ;>
