singularity (or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Hate My Playstation)

It's true, console gaming and PC gaming are becoming more and more alike.

Now my console can fail with a mysterious error that I spend hours on forums troubleshooting, then I order a replacement part and hope I can crack open the case and fix it myself without breaking anything else worse, because no way is the hardware manufacturer going to support it since the warranty expires about three minutes after you leave the store.

To be fair, it is a launch Playstation 3, so it did last pretty long before going bad. If you're curious, there is a single network card in it that handles wired connections, wireless connections, and Bluetooth connections with the wireless controllers. (Seriously.) So, you know, I'm just going to order one from a random eBay seller who says they pulled theirs from working PS3s. Nothing sketchy or risky about that.

All that store credit I talked about in my last post, I could use it just to replace the PS3, but that would mean no PS4. I guess I could also just completely give up on the PS3 and sell all those games (including the ones I haven't played yet) for credit towards that PS4. Tempting.
