It's not that Isabel hadn't wanted to see the babies. But she figured she'd give everyone a chance to settle into a routine before she interrupted it.

That was her story and she was sticking to it. Forgot about her being otherwise occupied with spending time catching up with her no longer ex-boyfriend.

Sam would be more than willing to stick with that story. He was a little too preoccupied himself, these days.

"Hey, sweetie, look!" he exclaimed to Persephone as he opened the door. "It's your Aunt Isabel! Say hi!"

Persephone just gurgled a little in her sleep.

"Guess that's a hello."

"If she'd actually said hello I would have been worried," she laughed. "She's beautiful."

"Isn't she?" Isabel had seen Sam at some of the most potentially embarrassingly goofball moments of his life, but all of them just might be nothing in comparison to the look on his face right now. "They're both so completely fr -- perfect I can't believe it."

Isabel really wished she'd thought to bring her camera. Parker would love to see that expression on Sam's face. "Believe it. They're here and they're yours. You've got a family now. Congratulations."

"I already had one," Sam said, smiling warmly at her. "But this is different."

[desertaliengirl]

"I can only imagine," she smiled. But maybe now she'd get to find it out herself one day. "How many hours have you spent just staring at them?"

Sam laughed sheepishly. "I lost track about four days ago. I can't get over how amazing they are."

Somehow, she wasn't surprised. "They are. Tiny, perfect little people."

"You probably want to hold her," Sam guessed, because seriously, who wouldn't? "Bet she wants to spend time with her aunt Isabel too."

[desertaliengirl]

"I could probably be persuaded," Isabel replied, even as she reached out for her. "We need to get to know one another since I'm going to spoil her rotten."

"I would expect nothing less of you," Sam said solemnly, and gently laid Persephone in Isabel's arms. "Sweetie, be nice to your aunt, okay?"

As if Persephone had plans to do anything but; she gurgled happily and wriggled, snuggling against Isabel.

"As if she could be anything but." Isabel was totally focused on the baby, amazed at how tiny she was.

"She loves you," Sam observed, stroking Persephone's hand with one finger. "Common sense, there; she gets that from her mom."

"And her good looks from her daddies." Ignore the cooing and baby talk. It could go on for a while.

"Hey now, her mommy had a big hand in that too." Sam wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary about cooing and baby talk; he'd been at it for quite some time himself.
