What's been happening, you ask? Very little. Not remembering what last I said here, I'll go from the start, as it were.
I got a new job. I worked at Nascor for three days, and now I'm at Sandhills Stair Manufacturing. Got moved to the other shop (from landings and winders, to risers), then injured myself. I get to go to the doctor's again on Tuesday. The fact that my back is still injured after a month (back injuries, so my doctor tells me, heal relatively quickly) doesn't bode well.
I've just made my second story submission this month. Two contests, hopefully I at least get shortlisted. T'would be even better if I won either. Either $500 US or €1000. Both would be quite nice. And they only keep first publication rights, which is awesome.
I'm starting to get really paranoid. At work and the like. I feel like my boss is out to get me/test me. Like . . . "Oh, Phil's not here today? You go over there and make sure he's doing everything the way Phil taught him." Or, "Oh, hey, Phil! Go over there and switch sides with Brad to see if he can do the other side." Writing it out like that kind of makes it seem silly, but it's bothering me, nonetheless.
I thought I saw Jack Layton today. In a truck, scowling, driving onto Golf Course Road. Then again, I also thought I saw Tom Arnold on Saturday. Looking exactly like he did in the movie Carpool. Creepy.
Looks like my house is going to have to wait a while. Not only does it look like I'll not be able to qualify for that close to $200000 (maybe 170 on a 45 year mortgage), but there's nothing out there for that little. Or barely anything. And I messed that sentence up. Should have been that I have to wait another four months to show I have job security (since I've only been at Sandhills for 2 months).
I'm almost halfway done my Script Frenzy script. I like it so far, even though it's entirely dialog and my main character is a bit of a creeper. Unfortunately, I only have two days and a few hours to finish on time. But, like I said, I like it. I want to finish it regardless.
And lastly, the Stony Plain Mental Health Clinic can eat my ass. I've called three times trying to set up an appointment, and gotten fuck all in return. So when I go to the doctor again, I'm going to tell him that and ask for the psychologist he recommends (despite the fact that it's expensive, rather than covered by Alberta Health Care).
