something different?

Of course by different I mean the same ol same ol.

I have a camera dilemma. My dear Canon Rebel. I love it. It was a splurge. I want to take care of it. I have never taken my camera on trips for fear of it getting damaged or robbed. I purchased a standard point and shoot for my ventures which makes for good memories but not the best photos. The lenses alone make my camera waaaay too bulky the extremely light packing I intend to do.

On this trip I will be seeing both the Great Barrier Reef AND Uluru (Ayer's Rock). They deserve a real camera.

So I either invest in a nifty fifty millimeter lens which will pack well but require patience and strategic shooting but the results would be quality. Or I just buy a postcard of something a professional already took and settle for my memories as evidence of what I saw. The lens would run about a $100 or so...which is money I could be spending on the trip itself.

If only someone could see into the future for me and test out both scenarios to see which one comes up better. And since I'm in delusional land, I'd like a teleportation device. That and a hover board would be nice. Off to the simulation deck!
