Wow, how is it autumn already? Can't believe I've been too busy since August to post here! I do have a lot of long image posts planned, as I still want to share my Land of Art creations from the previous round and I've made quite a few cool trips in the past few weeks (months;) that I want to do picspams of ( Read more... )

*high fives* Excellent achievement on your end as well! We got this:)

Great job that you kept going when it was really rough, glad you are feeling better now. Eating less has not resulted in being hungry or losing energy for me, but it does require a lot of mind games, especially in the weekends, when I think about snacking all the time to the point of exhaustion. The trick is to 1. not have any snacks in the house (duh) and 2. to have tasty alternatives. For me those crackers I mentioned in my first post are helping me a lot.
I imagine nr. 1 is hard for you since you don't live alone.

So far I managed to do without extreme exercise, although I am now looking to keep up with some stretching to get my body in synch with its new weight.
I also aim to go to bed earlier to shut down my brain (so far that's hard, because I keep getting distracted by fandom;)

Japan was unexpected for me as well; I had wanted to plan some traveling by train because I loved last year's trip so much, but then I saw the opportunity to fly to Japan and I couldn't resist! (Also because I don't know yet what next year will bring, I figured to better do that now that I have time and money for it)

I feel that the food-part is going well. Thing is - I did discover a few years back that I do have gastroparesis, and I have discovered that a lot of the pain I thought was "just CVS" in fact is Gastroparesis (or a combination, it's complicated....) Anyway - what I have come to realize is that the constant pain I keep having, and often need Tramadol (narcotic pain killer) to deal with, completely disappear if I don't eat solid foods. So I have tried and failed and come to the conclusion that if I keep to one meal a day of solid food, and the keep the rest fluid, then I am fine. And i was trying to find easy ways to manage this that it hit me that using Nutrilett diet shakes was a good alternative. And since they are used for losing weight - I could do that as well. It's an "easy" way to loose weight... the hard part is when you go back to normal food again, to keep the weight then. But I won't go back to normal food. I still won't be able to eat solid food. So when I will stabilize my weight, I will just have to add more shakes. And it isn't that hard to motivate myself to drink shakes instead of eating solids, since I have cheated a few times, and really regreted it. Damn it's painful!
Nutrilett shakes has all the minerals and vitamines that you need, and are hight in fiber. Some people with gastroparesis can't eat fiber at all, not even when they are fluid, but I seem to tolerate that. It's only when they have so hard that they have to be chewed that I have trouble with them. (the problem with Gastroparesis is that the stomach is paralyzed, so it doesn't churn the food to break it down....)

Treats at night however... popped chips is my drug... they have no fiber or complex carbohydrates (which is what my stomach can't digest), so they don't give me any pain. But since the shakes are so low in calories, I can always fit in some evening snack, and still keep the calory-count low enough to lose up to 1 kg pr week. One serving of popped chips is 107 calories.

I don't store lots of snacks in my house. I only shop once a week, and I don't shop more than what I have planned in advance that I can eat the next week. It's no problem even though I live with Amaya. She is used to the Norwegian tradition of only getting snacks on Saturdays. I'm the only one cheating on that rule in our house.

Amaya has also been really good at keeping me straight when it comes to eating fish. I am not fond of fish, but when I have tried to suggest otherwise on a Tuesday, she has been firm and said "nope, it's Tuesday, and on Tuesdays we eat fish!" So now I actually eat fish at least once a week! But I do feel Amaya is the one deserving of adult-points in our house LOLOL
