Spent Wednesday evening at my mom's after doing Ch. 26 of Age of Pandora at home first;).
On Thursday I suddenly got a deadline at work for that design project they'd asked me to do, which was little stressful, yet fun in the end and I got enthused praise from one of the top bosses, so yay! Had planned to do Ch. 27 immediately when I got home, but got a call from brotherdearest and we chatted for quite some time *grins* It was hard to get started after sitting down for so long, but I did the whole thing (bloody hell, 10 sets?!).
This afternoon I had a massage appointment right after work, which left me all sleepy and snuggly for the rest of the afternoon. Since Ch. 28 was pretty chill, I was able to do it though.
Chapter 26-28 (spoilers for exercises and story)
Chapter 26
I replaced the push ups in between the squats with an ABS exercise: 10 reverse crunches. Not just because my chest still hurt from the overload of push ups in Chapter 24 and I figured my wrists could use a break, but also because I feel my belly hasn't been getting enough attention in this challenge; the focus is more on strength and cardio.
Unlike other people in my Twitter group (not naming names...) I don't mind squats and can go pretty deep \o/
As it turned out my ABS choice was actually a pretty good replacement for push-ups, because it still had me moving from floorwork to standing up and reverse chrunches have a similar intensity as push ups (which was proven by the muscle aches the next day;)
Recommended!
Chapter 27
Woah, this was a long work-out! I thought it odd there were no consequences if you didn't manage to destroy the 10 nests, kind of forcing you to keep going and do the full exercise, which was a LOT. I was glad I opted for level 1, so 8 repeats; even if I felt I could do more during the first couple of sets, my body was kind of worn out near the end. All exercises were easy to do, it was just the amount of sets that was hard. Not sure if I did the (deep) cross chops right, but they made me laugh, so that was good;)
I love all sort of punches, so the squat hold and overhead versions were fun to do. The plank punches don't actually pack a lot of punch, but were an interesting experiment :-p
I'm still surprised how well I'm doing with the climbers and I didn't have any problems with the one plank jump-in in between the many other repeats. \o/
Oh, also: apparently those plank punches are excellent for ABS, because I now have muscle aches on top of the ones I had from the reverse crunches on Wednesday. So much for wishing for more attention for my poor belly.
Chapter 28
Good thing today's exercises were all about balance, which meant I didn't have to postpone them until I came out of my post-massage snooze state :-D I even managed Level II! I was a bit wobbly on my left leg during balancing for the knee-to-elbow, so I did extra repeats if I had touched the floor. The squat to calf raise was easy-piecy (told you I liked squats;) but the five point taps turned out to be harder than they looked.
There isn't a Darebee video to explain them, but Somer found a sheet of the
Darebee Star which shows all the moves more clearly. (I also found a video on another channel, but that trainer does the star a bit differently:
Five Point Tap with hip twist.
