Dutch toilet bowls typically have a plateau with only a little puddle of water, so there is no splash back. It's called a shallow flusher (as opposed to the US deep flusher)

When they finally called my name I was told they overbooked and they asked me to give up my seat; they offered me an alternative flight straight to Chicago, that would cut 4 hours off my already ridiculous delay. Boarding on that flight had also already started, so I had to run to the other gate, trusting the promise of the lovely lady behind the desk that they would take care of my checked in backpack...
Good grief, could your flight out BE any worse? I would never fly United again.

Even with all the trouble United gave you, you were determined to have a good time. And we so did!!!! Gosh, I can hardly believe that was just a few weeks ago that we packed up the car and away we went on our adventure! :)
