Character name: Morimi Saki (western order: Saki Morimi)
Fandom: Eden of the East
Timeline: after the anime series but before the movies.
Age: 22

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: None! Average human girl. Her 'talent' is making junk useful, as Eden of the East used to be a recycling club - she apparently has a tendency to see potential uses for things other people don't. She also helped Hirasawa with managing said club, though that was an unofficial position.

How would they use their abilities?: n/a

Appearance: On the left

Background/Personality: Morimi Saki is a 21-year-old university student who's about to be an ex-university student - she's on her graduation trip with friends, and they've flown out to America for a few days to see New York City. All is going well - they're seeing the sights and having a blast, and Saki decides to take an extra day to visit Washington DC. Which all would have been great until she gets caught trying to throw a coin into the fountain at the White House by some nearby cops.. and then saved by the sudden appearance of a buck-naked guy waving around a pistol and a cellphone, who distracts the cops to get her out of trouble. Startled and a bit freaked out by this weird nude dude (who wouldn't be) but thankful that he got her out of trouble, she gives him her jacket, hat and scarf, and then they part ways once he gets rid of that gun.

Of course, immediately after Saki does that, she realizes she left her passport in her jacket pocket, and she has to catch her flight. So the chase is on.

After running around after him for a while, she finally catches up to him at his apartment... as does another cop, who appears after Saki asks for her stuff back and is waiting for him to come back out. But, once again, he gets them out of trouble - having a picture of him from earlier, she asks for his Johnny (a slang term for an ID), and sure enough, he... whips out his Johnny - and the two get out fine. After finding out Saki's headed for Tokyo, he decides to tag along with her, and the duo head for the airport, actually getting along fairly well. His name is Takizawa Akira, born exactly one day after her, to her great amusement. She wonders if she's found her prince - but wait, that's just silly, right?

On the way back to Tokyo, they find out another missile has hit Tokyo - the first one since ten had hit the country on November 22 of last year in an incident called Careless Monday. However, unlike the first 10, this missile actually had victims - Careless Monday miraculously didn't hurt anyone. To Saki's confusion, Takizawa hasn't heard of any of this - but he soon reveals that he has total amnesia and remembers nothing of his life before their meeting in Washington. Although she has an interview later for a prospective job, she decides to believe what Takizawa says and help him out, and phones in to postpone said interview as well as telling her friend Micchon to pretend she's staying over at her house. (Micchon promptly tells the rest of their friends that she has no idea where Saki is, naturally.)

The address listed on Takizawa's passport is near one of the missile sites and must be reached by ferry, so Saki decides to just escort him there and wait with him for the boat to come. Since he doesn't remember anything of his own, he asks Saki to talk about herself a little bit - she works at a bakery owned by her sister and her sister's husband, who had a child recently. This makes Takizawa remember a little bit of his past - about a small scene with his mother. When the boat comes, he boards and Saki prepares to say farewell. However, as it begins to tug away with her watching with uncertainty, Takizawa offers his hand, and she takes it, hopping aboard to stay by his side.

It turns out that the address is to a shopping mall, which is indeed under Takizawa's name - not to mention the dog there certainly seems to recognize him. Since it has a movie theater in it, Takizawa offers to see any movie she likes together. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to Saki, Takizawa is suddenly assaulted while putting in the movie reel backstage - by a detective who has the same cellphone he does, a person known as a Seleção. Unbeknownst to Saki, Takizawa has been learning more about his past and the mysterious cell phone; it seems that Takizawa was part of a game in which ten billion yen was put onto his phone, and by calling the operator, Juiz, he can spend it however he likes. The Seleção that attacked him was after his phone so that he could get more money; however, though he succeeds in knocking out Takizawa stealing it, it works via fingerprint recognition, and Takizawa also managed to pocket his wallet. Thanks to all this, Takizawa misses the movie with Saki, and she storms out, hurt, leaving an angry note for him before heading back to her sister's place where she lives.

Meanwhile, after waking up and sheepishly finding Saki's note, Takizawa finds out that 20,00 NEETS disappeared in Japan, as well, which the other Seleção implies is Takizawa's fault before he dies. Takizawa, troubled by the possibility that he might have killed such a large amoutn of people - and by the additional looming possibility that the missile strikes are connected with him - he decides to seek out another of the Seleção, whom he discovers by looking back on his phone history.

Saki is still angry at him, but she can't help but be a bit concerned, too, so she shoots him a text asking what happened on the way to her interview. She meets up with her friend Osugi, who has the biggest crush on her (which, naturally, she is totally unaware of), and nonchalantly agrees to meet him for dinner after her interview. Which goes exceptionally poorly. The people she meets with obviously think she's an idiot, and reject her by making her wait in their cafeteria for an hour before "accidentally" spilling a beef bowl on her.

At the same time, Takizawa meets with a second Seleção, who shows him how he received his phone and what it's for. The Seleção are part of a game with 12 contestants run by a mysterious "Mr. Outside;" each has been given ten billion yen with the intention of spending it how they see fit to change Japan. Mr. Outside decides the "winner;" everyone else will be killed, and if you spend all your money, you will also be killed. Fun.

Afterwards, suddenly remembering her text, Takizawa goes back to find Saki, who's exiting from her interview. After a quick apology and seeing her depressed (and beef-stew-stained) appearance, he asks her to come back to his mall with him, and she does. The two leave on a motorcycle just in time for an approaching Osugi, excited for his not!date with Saki, to have all his hopes crushed in an instant as he sees them drive away. He goes off to drown his sorrows in overpriced alcohol with the money he would have used to pay for said date.

Arriving at Takizawa's mall later that night, Saki explains what had happened to her, becoming quite upset and heated about her treatment. She says that the older generation doesn't care for the younger at all, believing themselves to be superior and treating them like children - the younger generation were merely tools. And she's too ashamed to even show her face to her family now - she feels horrible continuing to live off of their generosity. Upon hearing this, Takizawa seems to realize something. He kisses her suddenly and tells her not to worry about the job - she can stay with him. The country is messed up, but he's going to do something about it. Saki, utterly confused, asks him who he really is, but he can only say "I don't know, but I think I'm going to find out."

Saki finally meets back up with her circle of friends, a club called Eden of the East. They are the creators of an online social networking site / photo-recognition program called - shockingly enough - Eden. By merely putting any person or thing in the camera of a phone with Eden on it, the program will retrieve user-stored information about that person/thing. After learning about this Takizawa guy, whom Saki wants them to join forces with, they decide to go investigate him, and eventually agree to work together (after Takizawa admits that he really just needs their help.)

Then they realize Osugi never came back from his dinner. Due to a series of suspicious pictures posted on the internet, they come to believe he was kidnapped by the murdered known as the "Johnny Hunter," due to their preferred method of killing. Takizawa figures out that the Johnny Hunter is probably a Seleção, as well, and runs ahead of Eden of the East's group, reaching her first to try and save Osugi... as well as the Johnny Hunter herself, who turns out to be a bit broken. Saki chases after him after he's taken off the phone line, keeping it to her ear, and overhears quite a bit of their conversation - including the bits about Seleção, ten billion yen, and a game to win. When she arrives, however, the Johnny Hunter has already disappeared, leaving Takizawa incapacitated by wounds he'd gotten beforehand. And in the end, it turns out that Osugi wasn't even the person she'd kidnapped.

After Takizawa's recuperated, he, Saki, and the group's programmer, Micchon, go to pay a visit to their estranged shut-in friend, a computer genius known as Panties. (Long story.) Takizawa had shown Eden the phone he'd retrieved from the first Seleção, Kondo; he doesn't reveal anything about the Seleção, but does say that this phone is like the one he has and probably has some information about him on it, and Eden says that Panties is the one who can crack it open. Panties sends off Saki and Micchon on some errands, but Takizawa remains, managing to talk his way into Panties' room by telling him that he's a Seleção. Panties is able to crack open the phone and get some info, and he tells Takizawa he'll send it to him later. Takizawa and the girls leave, the information about Takizawa being a Seleção being withheld from them (although Saki knows something is up, Panties refuses to tell her what happened, saying she's better off not knowing - to her dismay.)

Afterwards, Panties is able to get right into the data - and finds out that not only is Takizawa guilty of neither firing the missiles nor killing 20,000 NEETs, he actually organized the NEETs to help save people from the missile strike, and is the reason no one died on Careless Monday! But as he digs deeper and investigates the other Seleçãos' phones, he finds some disturbing information - one of them has ordered 60 more missiles to be launched tomorrow! Left without Takizawa's phone number or e-mail, Panties has no choice but to send all of the data to Eden before finally emerging from his room to chase after Takizawa and co. However, the two Seleção planning to launch the missiles are following Takizawa's movements, and they run Panties over in their car before he reaches them.

Meanwhile, Osugi, suspicious of Takizawa (and jealous of him for stealing the girl he liked) goes to investigate him, learning through Eden that he has multiple (hated) aliases. Panicking, he sends Saki a text, warning her to look out for him. Meanwhile, he shows his findings to the other members of Eden, saying that Takizawa is a criminal.

On their way out, Takizawa suddenly stops - one of the aforementioned two Seleção, Mononobe, calls him, telling him to meet with him so that they can discuss the game. Takizawa doesn't get on the train with Saki and Micchon, but at Saki's request - and after she tells him that she knows that his phone can make strange things happen and that she knows the Seleção are involved with Careless Monday - he leaves his phone open during the trip so that Saki can hear what's going on.

They learn that Mr. Outside is actually a man called Ato Saizo, a wealthy CEO from the WW2 era who started the game because he thought Japan is deteriorating and wanted the youth of Japan to try and change it. However, Ato Saizo is dead; nonetheless, the game goes on. Mononobe intends to become Mr. Outside to win the game - he thinks it's stupid, but the phone system is ingenious. They head for a secret facility, where Takizawa finds out that Juiz is actually a series of portable supercomputers. Mononobe wants to seize control of them, and, working together with a few other Seleção, asks Takizawa to join their force to change Japan - through the missile attacks, they will redistribute Japan's interests and shrink the country to a more manageable size. Takizawa thinks that's ridiculous, and tells it straight to their faces... before Mononobe tells him why he erased his memories.

After he and the NEETs he'd gathered saved Japan from the missiles, all of the rescuers turned on the group with suspicion - after all, how had he known about them beforehand? Through the internet, the slander only became worse. Therefore, to save the NEETs from being accused of terrorism, he assumed multiple aliases and gathered all of them together at his mall, claiming he was behind the attacks, before sending them far away so that they could wait out the accusations. Even though he saved Japan from the missiles, both Japan and the NEETs turned on him with suspicion and anger. He erased his memories because he'd lost his hope. As Saki overhears this, she begins to cry - it's too cruel. And, even worse, she feels the same guilt - after all, when the missiles on Careless Monday had hit, she had only wished that something even bigger would have happened to Japan.

Takizawa runs out on them, escaping on a train back to his mall. While he's doing it, the shipment full of NEETs is, of course, arriving back at the mall as a huge angry (naked) mob seeking Takizawa's blood; at the same time, the data from the phone that Panties hacked is finally arriving on the Eden server, where all the members of the group are reading it. Saki and Micchon arrive after the long journey back, explaining what really happened in Takizawa's past. Using Panties' data, they uncover the places where the missiles will hit and post it on Eden; meanwhile, Takizawa also reappears at the mall, catching the attention of all the NEETs by sending everyone a video post claiming he's going to hit the country with even more missiles. If they want to survive, get to the roof.

Eden hops on the elevator to get there, as well; they meet up with Takizawa, who's about to leave them again, but Saki refuses to let him go alone, offering her hand. So the two go together.

Once they arrive on the roof, Takizawa informs the huge crowd of NEETs that they all have to post their solutions on how to stop the missiles on Eden. Then, calling Juiz, he has her select the best of the 20,000 answers to stop the missiles. Perched on top of the mall's rooftop carousel, he watches the missiles rocketing towards Japan fail as they're shot down by his own counter-missiles. Shards of shrapnel crash into the roof, sending him and Saki toppling to the ground. As Mononobe's plan falls apart, Takizawa runs over to the unconscious Saki, making one more call to Juiz - "Make me the king of Japan. There are a lot of smart people in this country, but there's nobody to take on the thankless roles. I didn't want to do it either, but... there was one girl who believed in me."

Thus, standing over the rubble, Takizawa became a prince.

Saki is very much an ordinary girl caught up in something extraordinary. Before meeting Takizawa, she seemed to be a fairly typical girl; she was a university graduate with a few friends looking for her way in the world. However, because of everything that happens, she shows she's capable of being pretty extraordinary herself.

On the surface, she's a timid girl. She doesn't like being in front of huge crowds of people or confrontations with strangers - she's terribly embarrassed when Takizawa has them specially escorted out of a busy airport, and when she has to ask Takizawa for her passport at the very beginning and later participate in an interview, she's awkward and unsteady. Despite that, she's not too easily flustered. While Takizawa's blatant nudity alarmed her, she didn't freak out; later, when he kisses her, she also remains calm. And even when there are missiles flying across the sky and Takizawa is standing on top of a carousel, "firing" them down, she doesn't stand there screaming. For the most part, going along with said timidity, she doesn't have big outbursts of emotion, though it's pretty easy to tell how she's feeling just by her facial expressions.

This does not mean she is an introvert or gets along poorly with people. She has several good friends and hits it off with Takizawa quite quickly, despite their, uh, interesting first encounter. Saki is generally polite and friendly - she's the poster girl for her sister's bakery, so she seems to be someone people like. She may actually be a bit too polite; when her interviewers are rude to her and even when one of them 'accidentally' drops his beef bowl on her, she shows no aggression whatsoever, even though she reveals later how hurt she was. And, indeed, she is rather sensitive; when Takizawa never appears to watch the movie with her, she's frustrated to tears, and her inability to help support her sister also makes her quite depressed.

It's evident she's quite caring, often feeling more responsibility than she really needs to. She feels a great obligation to her sister for housing her and is highly concerned about Takizawa's situation, though the latter might be due to her developing a big crush on the goof. She also shows concern over the state of Japan - she feels that it needs to change, and when the missiles struck, even admits that she wished something even bigger would happen. Saki may be sweet, but she's not blinded by optimism in the least - she's quite opinionated.

One thing she certainly has is a huge helping of determination and loyalty. When she wants to help you, she will really help you. Without her support, it seems Eden of the East wouldn't have gotten off the ground - and what's more, Takizawa wouldn't have been able to learn about his past and save Japan once more.

Have you read up on how the game works?: Yes! FlamingFerret is the communicator program, and you can make money by taking jobs/missions, bumming off of friends, or stealing.

1st person sample: [ oh my goddd sending a voice message to so many people at once. She'd done voice and video chats back home, sure, but that was only with one other person... Is this really the only way to get in contact with the ship? Technically, the situation could be way worse, but this is just adding another layer of panic frosting to Saki's catastrophe cake.

A young woman's voice comes on, sounding quite embarrassed. ]

H-hello? Is this working?

[ there's a pause before she takes a breath. ]

Um! Can someone tell me where to find the... [ sound of unfolding paper. ] ... "Stowaways?" [ well, that's miserable... she's quiet for a moment before adding one more thing onto the end. ] Or... or if there's anyone else from Earth... what's going on?

[ a sober pause. ] ... Thank you for listening.

3rd person sample: How many of these papers had she filled out so far? She'd stopped counting after ten... Saki was a college student - a graduate, even. She was no stranger to filling out forms. But this was going a bit overboard. Perhaps, at least, it was distracting her from the crushing anxiety looming right over her head, and from the bizarre-looking aliens - aliens? - that were all around her. As far as college students went, she'd seen an awful lot in the past few months, but it had in no way prepared her for this.

She had to keep a level head. Even if all she wanted to do right now was scream or run out of the room or something, really, she just couldn't. That wouldn't get her anywhere. She'd been through so much already - she could get through this too. Right? She nods to herself weakly - right. She'd finish all this paperwork, and then... and then she'd find her friends, and it would be fine. Or -- someone. Anyone.

The thought makes her remember something with a jolt, and she lays down the pen currently wearing out her hand (much to the vogon in front of her's apparent irritation) to check her pocket. And her face immediately falls.

"Ah-- Takizawa's phone..."

It was gone. The one link she had to him... gone. She bites her lip, trying to hold back the wave of distress coming on. How was she going to find him now? Wait, even then... there was no way this was "where the adventure began," or anywhere near it. It was totally hopeless...

No friends, no family, no Earth, no Takizawa. As soon as she gets that fluffy free towel, the typically-reserved Saki has to restrain herself from crying into it.

Questions?: Have you ever been so far even as decided to use go want to look more like?

Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: HOPEFULLY
