i am so glad that the occupy campers made their point. and that the media noticed and people are talking about it. it was about time that someone made a stand and made a point. it's about time that somebody made people listen! now it's time to go home with dignity ( Read more... )

ok, first of all. there's a health issue about compact flourescents but i get your point. the point is "too little too late". well, i beg to differ. on a mass scale, a complete change of consumer habits can make a tremendous and exponential change very quickly. it's these huge multinational market thingies. if walmart thought there was profit galore in selling fairly traded goods, and 80percent of shoppers refused to buy goods made with slave labour from a company that had unethical business practices that undermined local economies (like walmart does) then all the walmarts would change their business practices. up here they are on a big "made in canada" kick because they know it sells ( ... )

so if people stopped shopping at big box stores, and only patronized mom & pop; if people voted in politicians who had a vision and a conscience and if the whole middle class stopped investing in all of the business that makes the "unreal" world go around, things would not evolve to become more of a "real" economy?

are you saying that anarchy IS the only answer?

if the occupy campers triple or increase 10-fold. i'm not sure what good can become of that. to the contrary i only see it getting worse and worse and the actual problem getting diluted and society becoming further polarized...not improved.

gimme a scenario that isn't all doom and gloom here, wayne!
