The last version of this comment, before I somehow deleted it before sending, took about 25 mins to write as I went through the whole chapter again and using sangueuk's model, included some of my favourite quotes. I'll try and do this version as much justice...

I'm so glad Stew has decided not to persist in his passive aggression towards Marcus. That made me very happy. I love how he remains snarky though, which is totally in character for him as we've seen him so far. It made me smile when Stew totally guess it was Esca who'd got Fanny involved. “Whoever was it that decided to get him involved? What sort of sneaky fucker would try a thing like that?”

I laughed at the way Esca is constantly fantasising about Marcus over the most mundane things: To dip a finger into and smear in a line down the centre of his muscled belly, sucking every drop off on the way down . . . and then getting a hard-on as a result. :)

I loved his reaction when he first sees Marcus in the dining room: He couldn't do this, keep gazing at Marcus across the room with moony, romance-laden eyes, not with Stew sitting a foot away. I'm glad he's self-aware enough to realise how he must look, though later we find Stew's noticed how happy Esca suddenly seems to be. :)

When he looks at Marcus: Marcus's beauty hit him directly in the solar plexus as Esca started over towards him [...] Esca couldn't look, couldn't watch as he knew Marcus was smiling, his smile enough to make Esca melt and ooze right off his chair into a puddle on the floor at Marcus's feet. he's so utterly smitten, it's sweet!

The whole scene in Esca's bedroom was funny. I loved that Marcus was secretly describing Esca and I loved Marcus' admission: Sometimes it's difficult to think of anything else. And his admission it's serious had me all 'awwww'. :)

And then came the hot, hot sex! I loved how they jumped on each other the moment Stew had gone and poor Esca having to tamp it down and get dressed to go find some oil. He's going to need to sort out his supplies. :D

In extolling Esca's virtues, I love this nod to canon: “Impeccable, superb and enslaving. I hunger for you, and for this,” A long lick, the tip of Marcus's tongue swirling over his piss-slit as Esca moaned and thrust his hips forward, “Every minute. You've enthralled me. You've imprisoned me with my own desires.”

I love Esca's mind-voice telling him what he's too afraid to say out loud: I love you. I'm in love with you. I'm out of my mind in love with you. More 'awwww' from me. :D

Another wonderful chapter - you're doing a fantastic job of building tension between Esca and Marcus, so that each time they make love, it feels like a catharsis.

Stew has come across as a jealous man, worrying that Janice fancies Marcus more than himself. I just hope that he doesn't start to get jealous that Esca wants to spend more time with Marcus than himself.

As always the narrative, and the dialogue were superb. The devil, they say, is in the details, and it's things like Esca trying to give up smoking for Lent, reminding us Easter will be there soon and hopefully a trip to Italy. My hope is for them to go live there in a remote Tuscany farmhouse where they can live together in peace. :)
