YAY!!!
Daughter came through surgery with minimal drama and not only did she get a new and improved lead, they replaced the entire pacer unit. This is good because although it probably had another two or three years of usabilty left in it, that would mean she'd have to get sliced up again soon. Better to do it now to reduce cumulative hospital time as well as scar build up! Bonus -- she's coming home this evening (she may be on her way home right now) which was a surprise to me. I was getting ready to go to the hospital after work when she called and told me she we being discharged as we spoke. Well, alrighty then!
On another topic of interest -- recall the "pink slips" of yesterday's post? The department somehow finagled the ability to finance all but six social worker positions as of this morning. Such drama around here at work! It's good that only six have to leave (it still sucks for them, tho') because now I won't be facing a caseload in the neighborhood of 500 old and/or disabled folks. They can be persistently cranky if it appears they are not getting a social worker's undivided attention and the thought of spreading myself thin enough to handle that many cases? Yeah. Cranky old folks and crabby disabled folks are no fun to play with -- ever!
