I'd say here the first and the last affected me most powerfully. The first, not just because it's personal and relatable (as a Symons and as a Floridian gardener), but because of the contrasts. The last... well, I read it with sort of a sense of melancholy combined with the whimsy, but maybe that's just me. (Also, it reminds me of Heroes, a favorite show. I make no apologies for being shallow.)
Thanks sooo much for your responses. Yes, I think there was a hint of Heroes in there. I recently started watching it again--had lost interest not sure why. Liking the show makes you eclectic, not shallow (she says in justification of several even less substantial faves aka quilty pleasures [e.g. Entourage])!
He there! Here through iammightee, she pointed me to your poem about flying. It's an incredible poem, I so completely relate. Thank you so much for that. You've certainly made me think, and that is a good thing.
