Despite having a bum leg it was time for another Sweden Rock Festival. The bands that I was looking forward to see was especially Hell and Lynyrd Skynyrd, especially as it was ten years ago since Lynyrd Skynyrd last played in Sweden.
The first day of the festival there was not many interesting bands playing. The only band that I wanted to see was Fear Factory. Unfortunately they were not good and it was quite boring watching them. So after four songs we left to retain the strength for the next day.
Second day started with the ugly singer of Exciter. They did a good set and was very energetic.
Next up was 10CC who did a nice solid set of easy listening rock.
Next up was a choice of Exodus or Danko Jones. I choose Danko Jones as he has never done a less than great show and this was no exception. He was good, funny and witty. And Danko Jones rocked.
I missed the first 30 minutes of Saint Vitus due to Danko Jones and I found Saint Vitus to be a bit plodding and not very into the show. Maybe a bad day at the work?
Night Ranger was rocking in Sweden Rock or should it be in America? They did a good set and I was impressed by them.
I did not have so high expectations on Sepultura but they were very tight and rythmic especially the drummer. Very nice surprise.
Mastodon, what to say about the, Last time I saw them I thought they were boring and yes they were that this time. Don't understand their music.
Instead of suffering from Mastodon I went over and listened to Graveyard. Very nice stoner/seventies rock. must check them out more.
Sebastian Bach, not good at all. Not much to say about him. As bad as the last time I saw him.
After his show my leg could not handle the strain anymore and I had to leave the area and I missed Soundgarden unfortunately.
Day three started of very well with Michael Schenker Temple of Rock. And for the first time I have seen Mickael Schenker he moved around a lot on the stage and smiled and seemed to have a fun time.
Axe with the returning Bobby Barth played a very good set. I must check them out more. Bobby Barth was excellent as usual.
Unfortunately Blue Öyster Cult played at the same tim as Axe, bad planning by SRF. But as BOC started playing the rain started pouring down and it was impossible to enjoy songs like The red and the black. But I got into BOC when the rain stopped falling. Then came the last days of May was glorius to hear live.
Darkness was not good. To much high pitched screams from Justin.
Motorhead was not as good as usual. They seemed old, sad to say.
Twisted Sister was very energetic. So good, unfortunately I had top leave after five songs as my leg could not handle it anymore.
Day four started of in Hell with Hell. Second time I got to see Andy Sneap playing and he is very good. Probably the best concerty of the festival. Hells singer is such a maniac on stage.
Bonafide can never make a bad concert and today was no exception. Good show and good music.
Fish was a nice surprise. Good music a bit like Peter Gabriel. Very nice.
And then it was time for a band that I have waited many years for. From the south came Lynyrd Skynyrd and the weather was perfect for their show. Excellent show with some new tunes and many old classics like Simple man. And Freebird is to short at the 12 minute live version. They could play it for ten more minutes.
Just one year to the next festival. yay!
