Wow, I am extremely impressed!

Your prose is beautiful -- love the crow theme that permeates throughout, the juxtaposition of war and sex, and everything that comes in between. Your characterization of Kakuzu is extremely interesting and nuanced. I love the subtleties that you focus on-- such as the idea of how he holds himself together and puts himself into a shape of a human. Madara's obsession with Hashirama was heartbreaking in a sense, and how he kept going back to him to lie down side by side, heart to heart -- how even while he was performing oral sex on Kakuzu, his attention was riveted by Hashirama.

I really didn't know what I was expecting when I first stumbled across this fic, but I'm really glad I read it! You are a fantastic writer and you have a way with language!

Would love to see more. Am actually going to go check out more of your fics now. ^^

Thanks so much for your kind words; I'm really glad you enjoyed this.

Kakuzu is one of skycreature's and my favorite characters, and it's depressing to both of us seeing him flatly characterized so often; I do think he has a lot more potential for complexity than fandom mostly gives him credit for, although there are a lot of Naruto characters in the same boat really, surprise surprise. |D But we enjoy writing him as smart and calculating and controlled and inhuman as we feel like he really could be. ♥

And this is truly such a heartbreaking part of the entire story enclosed in Naruto, for all that it seems to be forgotten sometimes. I'm very glad that you enjoyed this, and hope that you find other things that tickle your fancy in this fic journal too! :)

I think it's definitely rare to find writers who think of the characters in a way in which they aren't explored canonically. Very frequently in fandom, the dominant mode of approach to characters is to treat them as they appear canonically, without really delving into the makeup of how the character is constructed or designed. So it's really great that you put so much thought into Kakuzu -- I am seriously impressed. :D

As for your other fics, I was tickled to find that you wrote Iroh fic! IROH. I love Avatar so it was great to see that, though I didn't comment since I was reading at like, 6am or something ridiculous like that. I haven't had a chance to read very much else yet, but you have a lot of stuff here. :3

As an aside, I see that you're an RPer! Do you go all out in RP characterization like you do in fic, too?

He's probably become more of an original character now than anything else, really... but I hope he holds true to the spirit of Kakuzu, at least. Haha. Such a strange dark thing ( ... )

Well, I think that any kind of reappropriation of a character and delving into his characterization is a very cool thing to do, especially when it is done well and when those insights into the character can be justified or explained through things that occur in canon, such as reading into stoicism and considering why that is, or thinking about what the stitching-together of humanity actually means. These are all things that really, are considering things on a more subtextual/connotative level which I feel is the mark of a sensitive writer -- which you definitely are! :D

I am cramming for GREs, so unfortunately only have so much time to do stuff, but! I will definitely read more sometime. ^^ I memoried this fic cuz it's just so much win. I can't believe it hasn't gotten more comments, though I'm sure it will, as I kind of spammed it to my entire game. xD

In terms of RP -- well, the point is definitely to have fun, so if you aren't having some degree of fun or enjoyment or getting something out of it, that kind of defeats the ( ... )

I'm glad you agree! Haha XD Kishimoto can't possibly have time to flesh out everyone and personally, I like my Kakuzu better anyway, so characters without development in the manga are pretty much fair game to be fleshed out more, to my eyes - taking what traits they do show into account, naturally. And all your kind words~ making me blush! I am so glad you enjoyed this. ♥ And naturally real life comes first, and it would be pretty churlish of me to drag you around my fic journal trying to force you to read, rofl. So ( ... )

Even if he does flesh out anyone, there are still different directions to take the character and to consider them. Like Kakashi, for example. Actually, that's a bad example because he actually isn't very fleshed out. XD; Nevermind. Point is. Even major characters still have a lot of plasticity in interpretation that will allow for different readings. XD And I'm just being honest about what you've written here!

I've flung my Kakashi (ura_no_ura) and Madara around DR here and there but I haven't in months due to overwhelmingly busytiems and grad school applications eating my life. As for your concerns, I sent you a massive tldr PM. :x

And hey -- real life happens. ♥

Either way I'm very flattered! ♥ Honestly, the way Kakuzu is portrayed in most of fandom really frustrates me. He has potential to be so much deeper. So, I try to write him that way, and so does skycreature +____+

Haha! ♥ I should make a DR post with the Kuzinator at some point in the near future. ILhim, and it's kind of surprising who he gets along with sometimes.
