Watching the kids I look after most days makes me crazy, but sometimes it makes me smile.
Eyes, wide in wonder,
Captivated by the dance unfolding before them.
A ballet.
Glistening spheres floating on air,
Twirling, teasing, daring to push higher
Into a heaven of baby blue and blazing sun.
A giggle.
Sudden pull backwards
And they lose their feet.
Graceful stumble.
Twisting and tumbling,
Then downward spiral towards
A brown earth and untimely finale.
A gasp.
Change of wind
And a tug skywards once more.
A partnership
Of pirouettes and leaps of faith.
Spinning faster, pushing higher
Exploding in a burst of glimmering light.
A sigh.
