Molly hates feeling singled out whenever someone had a problem with Jonah. Just because she scolds him more often than she praises him doesn't mean she hates him; she's just honest and that's out of respect, not malice. Yet, with Phoebe, it seems every-time she legitimately flails in written form on her journal, she's “enabling” the family's ill ( Read more... )

Claire was aware of what had happened, right from Molly flailing about Jonah giving James a mohawk to Phoebe putting up her post about being upset with everyone for bashing her boyfriend. She had thought about stepping in but wisely decided to stay out of it. At least till one of the girls approached her, of course ( ... )

The young woman couldn't get the little boy out of the stroller fast enough as soon as they crossed the threshold; James was flailing and squealing with everything he had in him as soon as his eyes locked with the slightly older toddler. Once his little shoes hit the floor he ran toward mini-Claire his best friend with outstretched arms and a grin that took up his whole face. Molly could only smirk as she watched her son bound towards Kaito for a hug. They're still young enough to think hugs were awesome, thankfully. She knew that stage would disappear fast when they reached seven or eight. “Toe-Toe!”

“Be careful, James,” Molly advised as she watched the two meet like a slow-motion scene in some film before turning her attention to Claire. She felt a little rude, given James just passed Claire up without a second's thought for his best friend since birth, but she offered Claire an apologetic smile and a thankful hug to try to amend the situation.

She also just needed a hug by someone who didn't pull her hair for fun.

"Jay-Jay!" Kaito just couldn't run faster if he tried as he burst out of the hallway as fast as his little legs could carry him. His whole face lit up with a smile for his best friend in the whole world and Claire had to smile at the sight. It was a relief to her that her son already had a friend like that since it had taken her so long to find what he had found in James.

Watching as they crashed into each other and fell to the ground to hug each other tightly, Claire laughed softly as she didn't seem to even mind that she had been passed up by James in favor of her son.

Turning to Molly, she hugged the younger girl close while rubbing a hand over her back gently. She knew she needed some kind comfort in that moment and Claire had learned some of the tricks to do just that over the years. "Come in, I'm just making some chai." Like it was an every day action for her and it was somehow Fate that had Molly showing up at the right time.

Shaking her head with laughter at those silly little boys, she returned the embrace, clinging for a moment before promises of Chai and the smell of muffins draw her towards the kitchen. “I would, thank you.” She hated Chai Tea as a girl but forced herself to swallow the beverage just because Mohinder enjoyed it. Soon enough, the taste grew on her, so much she even threw away the prospect of coffee, even if she was currently dating a part-time employee at a coffee shop, because Chai seemed to get her through the day faster than any cup of Columbia's finest. “Do you need any help?”

One of the perks of being a Clairvoyant was she didn't need to look over her shoulder to know that her son was stripped down to his diaper, spinning around and around in circles. At least it's not in public, she thought, thankful for small miracles.

Claire could drink chai if and when it was offered but it wasn't her favorite drink. She liked coffee and she enjoyed tea but chocolate milk was still the best in her mind. She knew the chai tea would be a comfort to Molly though and that's why she was making it. Shaking her head, she smiled as she glanced over at the young blonde. How strange it was that they looked the same age but Claire was actually older. No one would guess that she was in her thirties.

"No, I'm good. I had the best teach me, remember?" She smirked as she thought of all the times Mohinder had tried to teach her how to make the drink. Those had been some interesting experiences.

Once everything was ready, she offered the cup to Molly with an inquisitive gaze. "So how are you?"

Molly didn't care that they looked the same age. All she really gloated about, if she was in good humor, was the fact she was taller than Claire. Immature, but it was still a personal best. It also made her feel even more like a Walker, since her father, her son's namesake, was all legs himself. She wasn't model height or anything, but in a pair of heels she'd reach five foot eight next to her regular five foot six. Taking a deep breath she received the offered cup and took a long, grateful sip, just letting the aroma and the warming sensation curing her tenseness until there was nothing left but-calm ( ... )

Claire glanced casually towards the boys since she didn't have a third eye to do it for her. She checked to make sure they were within view and not doing anything destructive. Or at least not anything destructive to her home or to each other because being destructive to some toys was just fine ( ... )

Molly stiffened defensively. Really, she wasn't angry at Jonah anymore-she punched him and now they were good-but she was just more-or-less annoyed at Phoebe. “No, but that's how it sounded.” She clarified, biting her bottom lip, feeling more like a child at the moment than an adult. And Claire didn't do much of anything-just asked her a simple question. Paranoid girl was paranoid. “That thought probably never crossed her mind,” Molly began, trying to be as reasonable as she always prided herself in being, “but it was just how I took it to mean, I guess.”

"Of course, you were upset." She smiled easily as she pulled the muffins out of the oven to place them on top so that they could cool off. Removing the oven mitts from her hands, she laid them on the counter before looking over at the other girl. "Someone did something to your son without asking you. You were worried about what people were going to think of him. That they weren't going to like his new hair cut. Anyone would be upset in your shoes."

"There's a but," Molly confirmed, bracing herself for it.

"How would you feel if Phoebe posted things about David in her journal?" She asked casually, leaning against the counter as she crossed her arms.

"Point." She agreed after staring at Claire with a stone expression. "That still doesn't change the fact that I feel like I'm always the instigator. I might've hurt her feelings--no, I know I did--but she hurt mine too."

"The joys of being best friends, sweetie. You two are the quickest to defend each other but you're also the first who can hurt the other the quickest as well." Claire nodded her head, turning to take the muffins out of the tin. "But she's not just mad at you, she's mad at everyone right now. Hiro will calm her down though."

"Realistically, I know I'm not being singled out, but it just feels like I am." Molly gave a helpless shrug, moving towards the table to slide into a chair, slumping in defeat.

"Well, it did start in your journal." Claire smiled as she carried out a plate of fresh muffins, putting them down in front of Molly. "It'll be okay, sweetie." She covered the other girl's hand. "You're both upset but you guys never stay that way for long."

Claire really wasn't making Molly feel any better, but she did have a point nonetheless. "Yeah." She gave in only a little bit, before patting Claire's hand in a sign of gratitude, before plucking a muffin from the pan to begin nibbling.

Only to be interrupted by a tug on her dress. Looking down, she saw the wide, hazel eyes of her son. Despite his coloring, he looked--and acted--just like his mother to a tee.

"Mama, we stay." James nodded seriously, long, curly lashes batting together. "Me wanna play."
