We measured
bbwoof for his wedding outfit over the weekend, and I bought it today. Squeeee!:
He wanted to wear a kilt, and he has two black twill
Utilikilts already, but we wanted something more formal for the wedding. And this would be a fine occasion to wear something more traditional, something tartan, right?
It's been awfully hard to find a nice comfy tartan kilt with absolutely no wool in it that still looks good, especially in his size. Woof's a big guy, with long legs, and he has a nasty contact allergy to wool. He didn't want to fiddle with pleating nine yards of material around himself, either. Finally we settled on
Sport Kilt. I special-ordered one just like in the picture, only hemmed long, with elastic in the waist.
Woof's a Stewart with a Campbell mother (only in America!). So it turns out that the Black Watch tartan is perfect. Not only is it appropriate for anyone to wear, but it's based on the Campbell sett (the first officers of the original Black Watch militia were mostly Campbells) and the pipers of the modern Black Watch, being a royal regiment, wear the Royal Stewart tartan. It's not a loud color, which Mr. I-Only-Wear-Black likes. And it's sexy. I say so.
